Can't help but share my experience today.
Got to eat out with my big bosses earlier. Well not me alone but all 13 members of our team. So, our CEO and 2 co-founders were there.
After 5 years of working in the company, I haven't experience eating out with my bosses. I really can't help but treasure this experience since they are busy people and not to mention not all of them are from the Philippines.
They are actually real cool bosses. The greatest I must say and they usually eat out with some of their employees from other departments. This is the first time for our department and I find it real fun.
I do hope other bosses would do the same to their employees. This way they would get to know each and everyone of their employees. I believe this helps to have a good working environment. You won't feel awkward to your bosses and will also help you communicate with them openly.
Have you ever tried to eat out with your bosses? How was it? Do you think this is healthy for the company?

I had the experience once. Though it was special in the way we got to leave the building and go to a real restaurant all paid for by the boss, it didn't turn out to be anything spectacular. I'm glad you enjoyed your day with the bosses.

The bosses are applying a strategy called motivation, partly for the employees but mostly for the advancement of their own careers.and business.

We didn't even talk about work during the dinner, that was the good thing about it. We talked like we were long time friends and sharing stuff like normal people do. Working in the company for 5 years has never been great and that is because of our great bosses.

I do not think they are nice.
If they are really nice, they will make time to have lunch at least once a year with people from each department.
It is not that you are working in a big company.
The company I am working now has more than 10,000 staff, so nobody expects CEO to have lunch with us.

We are only 150 or so employees all in all from different departments. And yes, they are nice to think they are very busy people and as mentioned, they are not from my country. One of them gets to visit the Philippines once in a blue moon. Also, our department work 24/7 having us all in one dining table is pretty much hard to do. But, with this rare occasion, they made it possible.
