This past December we bought a home...and I have to admit that it is the first home we've owned. Here we are a retired couple and we bought our first home!
The circumstances around needing to move from a home we rented for over 15 years were a bit sad, but as so many have said we never what will happen when one door closes.
I have to say that I absolutely LOVE our new home. It isn't huge or anything like that, but it is ours, it is clean and suits us perfectly. I have a gorgeous kitchen and an upstairs where I ride my recumbent bike and can do my crafting too.
My hubby has huge shed that has electricity and even has a cable line to it should he ever want to set up a television out there.
Our move was just across the street from where we were living and the snow held off until we had most everything moved over. We made a lot of trips back and forth using carts and finally on the day of the big move we had lots of help from our son, son-in-law and a friend from church. This was one of the easiest moves I've ever had and I am so grateful for all that gave us help.
We were all moved in and mostly settled by Christmas day and I loved having our family over to celebrate not only the birth of our Lord, but our new cute little home too.
The picture is from late summer and the picture that was used to advertise this cute little home. Our cute little home! Did I mention that I love it?

I don't think it is ever too late and I hope to own a house one day. For me it is to have a place for my disabled daughter to feel safe and comfortable but if I am blessed to live in the house I will be grateful.
Lovely little house you bought.

One of our newest new neighbors bought their first house and they are in their 60's also. They are a joy to have around when we aren't distracting the heck out of each other. it's nice to have something that is yours. I love the fact you literally moved across the street... such an easy move indeed! I hope you have gotten situated nicely into your new home by now.

Sometimes those 'short' moves are more work than long distance moves. Congrats on your new home
