Freezing Cold

The winter has been incredibly warm until now, but February brought in the cold.
Yesterday, a chill wind has blown from north all the day.
This morning the sky was clear, but the temperature has dropped and everything was covered by a thin crust of ice.
I took a photo of our frozen pond, the blue sky creates a nice reflection on the frozen surface .
The cat of the neighbor came to "skate" on the frozen water.
I would love to take a photo, but he moves like a crazy all the time.
Are you having a cold or warm February?

@Orson_Kart I just did the conversion on that to Fahrenheit and that isn't too cold for where I live.

You Americans still use old money! I have had to work that one out. What is it again? Subtract 32, divide by 9 and multiply by 5. I know 82F is 28C and -40F = -40C. So you are somewhere in between. 13C, I think. It's colder here 'int UK in either money. Brrrrrrrr

Darn, I had a reply and then decided to include a photo taken a few weeks ago at my sister's condo, when the ice covered the lawns. In working on editing the photo, my computer kept pausing and then lost my comment in the process.
If I remember, I was trying to say that I enlarged your photo, but I couldn't tell it was ice on the pond, but I'll take your word for it. Cool that you have a pond in your yard or near enough.
I decided after looking at my image here, it's hard to see whether it's ice or water pooled in the lawn. So much for that.

It's been horribly cold here the past 3 days not getting out of the teens. Factor in the wind chill and it's below zero here. Brrr. Oh my I love your pond and yard, just beautiful

@fishtiger58 Here as well. As cold as it is, when I took my son out to the college, students had their jackets unzipped, and those jackets were mere hoodies.

Since we are celebrating the Spring Festival also known as the Chinese Lunar New Year the weather has become less chilly than what it used to be in January. Like yours our winds from the north are very cold since Mongolia was having exceptional cold weather with temperatures reaching as low as -53 degrees Celsius.
So we are alright when there's no wind but when it starts blowing it could really be quite a crazy experience of being frozen.

Looks like we have similarities with our temperate north and south of our countries. But I must stress that our south winds rarely reach us lest there's a hurricane or typhoon to carry it over to us. So, we really don't wish for the south winds here.

I know that Mongolia is very cold. We have two different kind of winds coming from north, one is very cold, but another coming down from the southern slopes of the Alps, it is called Foëhn, it's a warm and dry wind. It is a pleasure when it blows in winter because the temperature goes up from 5 to 10 Celsius.

impressed by even the thought of an ice-skating cat - hope he doesn't fall through the ice as it thaws out
