Sweets Too Sweet

My brother received a box of Indian sweets from his colleague who had returned from India. He let us try it, and boy must I say that they are way TOO sweet!
In all gratitude and appreciation, we were happy to receive this gift. But the sweets were sweeter than having sugar smudged straight on our tongues.
I mean absolutely no offense. But we can't seem to handle the sweetness too well. It felt like milk, ghee and a tablespoon of sugar in each bite.
We've came to the conclusion that Indian sweets are a one up on chocolate bars, ice cream or sodas.

I feel better knowing that some Indians actually do find these sweets too sweet. Mmm, your wife's lesser sugar and ghee version sure sounds amazing. That's what I felt the sweets needed.

Yeah they were, it was like having x2 the sweetness of hershey's cookies and cream chocolate bars in one bite, minus the cookie taste and replace it with ghee.

I think you need a cup of black tea with every bite.

It is sad that if you put in in the bin. In India each place is different in its foods and tastes. I don;t know from where your brother colleague return from India. In some places they like more sweetness in sweet. Ladu, Jilebi, Peda, Burfi, Halwa are some of the Indian sweets. I can identify Ladu from your image.

We didn't put it in the bin, we tried our best to finish them over a span of three weeks. Yeah, a large country like India would have many places with their distinctive sweets. I checked up the names you've provided and they are accurate. In my opinion, the brown sweets suited my tastes better.

LOL, there we go! I know that most Indians love their sweets really sweet. I feel that Indian sweets have a nice aroma but I'm shot down by their sweetness.

They tasted like uncooked short bread with highly concentrated condensed milk, ghee and sugar.

I've no doubt many others would enjoy these sweets, otherwise they wouldn't be so popular.

Sweets are different everywhere you go. I've never tasted them from India maybe some day.

There are Japanese sweets that are very small, about two centimeters or less, and you are supposed to eat one with tiny bites in between sips of very bitter matcha, green tea.

I'll try that in future with overly sweet desserts I've got. Japanese desserts are sophisticated and delicious. I love them.

I know it's just that it's too much sweetness to even take a full bite. Indians do have a knack for eating sweets.

Being too sweet really does faze people. I love sweets too just that I couldn't handle those.

The coffee one is a good idea. I too enjoy sweets that have a balanced tartness such as lemon cheese cakes.
