longest vacation you've taken?

Now when I was small and trips weren't on my dime vacations were longer weekend or a week long. There's a gal I know who just got married but chronicles her vacations on her FB page. Her hubby must do well because she spends several weeks a year traveling with him and their family. A co-worker just returned from an international trip for a month... I am envious as she went to a place on my bucket list.

When a good friend of mine lived in Ottawa we would frequently drive there to visit her and stay in her place for a few days at a time. Sometimes on a whim I'd take the kids up for a weekend. She would also often travel down to visit us. She moved away to Nova Scotia a few years back and we haven't had a vacation since. This summer I'm planning a weekend stay at Hershey Park. I've already booked the cabin... the tickets will be pricey as we have 6 people and we'll be there for 2 days so we need admission for both days.. then I need some spending cash which I've been working on saving up for a few months already. I'm up to $100 and have till August.

I think I've heard of hershey park but I don't know much of anything about it. I think I recall you saying you visited a friend up in Canada. I can only imagine how much it will cost. We might get to go somewhere better than camping this year but we will see how it rolls.

@3SnuggleBunnies No, he's not in school anymore. He's got his own money to take his own vacations, and he's not much into the family stuff anymore. Still lives home but lives his own life, you know. If he wants to go he can pay his own way but I'm figuring he'll stay home and take care of the dog. I think he'd rather plan a trip with friends than with us!

When my mom remarried we had a few vacations. Most were just week-end drives to a city nearby to visit friends. I went to Canada with my ex in the late 90's and were gone about a week. That was probably the longest one where I actually traveled some place.

Sometimes weekend trips can be the most enjoyable. Hubby and I used to drive up somewhere and stay over a night or two and go exploring and then drive back home. I kinda miss those little trips but it's hard and costly with a family

When I was a kid, our family went on two month-long trips (one in 1981 and one in 1986). Both were great. :) I'm glad we have those memories. :)

Me and my mother went to Thailand back in 94', and I think we stayed there for about 6 weeks? I think? I know we stayed a good long time. But, I do believe it was 6 weeks of our stay because, we went to Phuket, which, is down at the bottom of Thailand. Than we went to Chiang Mai, which, is at the top of Thailand. It was a wonderful trip though. I'd love to go back again someday! Better start saving up some bread so I can go, eh? LOL

I cannot go for a vacation more than 2 days.

Is that due to job or expense of traveling? I know it is very costly here to take your family on any kind of vacation. Some people save for many years to go somewhere, however, usually I more pressing things that need taking care of than a trip.

@3SnuggleBunnies It is because of job. And also I don't go for very long distance because I can't afford it.

Sounds like you had quite an adventure. Someday if we win the lottery LOL I would love to do some traveling, though of course hubby would insist on keeping his feet on the ground. By my middle child said if she ever went traveling she would take me with, mind you she's only 10.

@3SnuggleBunnies Aw what a sweet kid. Mostly these days we camp and fish. Makes for a fairly cheap vacation.
