I had to share this photo for you cat lovers. This is Kuma, my son's short legged female cat with her new toy.
Today, I hung out at the pool and relished the beautiful day. Eyes closed, I heard my name. It was Peppy Castro, a member of the Blues Magoos, a band that is still touring. I met him last year at the pool. My husband joined us, and five minutes later, my sister in law. What fun we had.
A couple, that we met on a Scandinavian vacation two years ago, happens to be in Florida visiting a relative. They are from New York. We keep in touch on Facebook. We are going to see them for dinner on Wednesday!
A group of friends, all New Yorkers, either live in Florida full time or have vacation homes as we do. We are all getting together on Saturday at a couple's home for drinks, then out to dinner.
Would you believe we are doing the same thing with teacher friends the following week?
Life is good, although busy.
Do you like to socialize with friends?

@DianneN I'm retired too but I'm so engrossed with my garden and home beautification, apart from my volunteer job in the Bible school, plus mylot and other online activities. 24 hours is not enough, but I do give time for socializing at least once in two weeks.

I think that I just figured it out with this picture! I like your new profile pic, and it is the contrast of the black background with your fair hair, and it reminds me of the cat's colours! He's such a good looking kitty.
It sounds like you're in for a lot of fun coming up. Our favorite times out are with a couple that live just down the road from us, we've known them since we were teenagers, and our husbands worked at the factory together. Oldest friends are just the best aren't they?

@DianneN Now I'm confused, isn't Doodles the handsome black and white kitty? The one in the photo on the end of the bed looks aloof and less social then the other one appears to be. Funny how they have such distinct personalities that we can determine them in their photos!

That is little Kuma, the female kitty. I adore her, but she makes it impossible to catch her. I have to wait until she is asleep under a blanket to get her. She is fluffy, while Doodles is sleek albeit chubby. I'll post a picture here. Your job is to guess which one is Kuma and which is Doodles. My son's gf just sent it to me.
Old friends are great. We have several couples that go back as far as high school. Some live close by in CT, and some are right here in FL.

@DianneN Dianne, there's nothing really to be sorry about. I've been a loner all my life. My socialization is right here. I don't know what I would do with myself if I found myself in a social environment. I'd be like a fish out of water. What I do totally enjoy is reading all about yours and everyone else's social agenda's, what you do, where you go and even how you get there. That totally fascinates me. So next time you go somewhere, remember, I'm going along with you, right from here. Don't leave out any details because I totally enjoy the fact you are having a great time doing whatever you're doing.

Absolutely! Barely a day goes by when I do not spend time with friends ... either by myself with my girlfriends, or with my husband and our couple friends!

We do occasionally. Most of our friends are still working so that makes things more difficult to get together.

@DianneN If all our friends are retired it would be easy, we are most of our friends are not.

Leaving your kitties must have hurt. My so has a male that won't tolerate his girlfriend's male. So, I get the male when I am not in Florida and he gets his male back when I am. His gf gives her male to her mother and switches. Sounds crazy, but we all love those kitties!!! The one in the photo is my son's female. She stays with him all the time, except when I have to babysit. Lol! Btw, I waited my whole life for my vacation home.

I love the cat's name. And the squirrel...too funny. There's a real squirrel here that comes around for peanuts and it's funny to see our cat out there being completely indifferent to the squirrel.
As for socializing...not too much at this point in life. I used to all the time though. Have a great time though, it does sound like fun.

Kuma means bear in some language, so my son told me. His other cat is not indifferent to squirrels, I'm sorry to say. Blech!
It's funny how socializing seams to work in stages. We used to go out or entertain all the time, them preferred our own company, and now it's a bit of both. Such is life!

LMAO @DianneN , it looks like Kuma is waiting for the squirrel to start talking. I remember that group the Blues Magoos.

I think Kuma polished off that squirrel by now. That's the only hunting she does. Lol! I am thrilled you remember the Blues Magoos. Peppy told me last year that his career took off after he wrote the Bounty Paper towel jingle, "the quicker picker upper". My husband remembered some of the songs that were hits.
