Tornado Watch

We are now under a tornado watch. I often get confused with watches and warnings.
If I understand correctly, a watch means that conditions are favorable, and a warning means it is imminent. Please correct me if I am wrong.
It is now raining, the wind is blowing, and it is thundering.
The panic attack begins....

it goes watch, advisory, warning. We were probably under all three 10-12 times in two months last spring/summer.

We have been on a tornado watch all day. We have not had one today but there was a funnel touchdown in a different county. We had darkness, torrential rain and high wind. It was pretty scary at times.

@cindiowens Yes, it has been like that all day. Scary times and then sunshine. Then it starts again. I think it is storm cells moving through.

We were under a tornado watch too. You're right about the differences between watches and warnings. I now say in my head that a watch means to watch out for the weather, and warning is happening right now. That way I'm not confused.
