Do plants have rights?

A guy on the radio said that plants have rights. He said carrots scream when you chomp down on them and all vegetables and fruit have the right not to be grown for food. I am wondering what they think we should eat. Do vegetables really feel pain when you pick them? Do trees really cry when they know someone is coming to cut them down? What do you think about all this? I would love to know how you feel. Do plants have rights??

That's usually my response though if someone tries to tell me they are vegan because they don't eat living things because in theory doesn't that mean they can't eat plants too because they are in fact living?

We all have to decide to eat something either plant or animal. It sounds cruel but who says life is fair?

@akalinus Yes, I don't know how one would survive without both plants and animals.

I think this guy has an imaginary friends in the form of plants. However, I do think plants don't have life. On the other hand, plants or trees that cannot be eaten should be protected to save the mother earth.

That is what I thought, too. I said the guy is a fruit loop. But then I started having guilt feelings about that veggie omelet I ate for breakfast. ;)

@akalinus After reading your post ... I have promised to watch for tears when I begin to eat vegetables, fruits from now on. I couldn't bear to bite something that is going to cry in my mouth.

Yes if they are endangered but not as food. I think the reason for this is probably someone was a vegan and they was making a point that plants are alive too.

I remember the scientific research that Plants do feel pain, just like animals. Well we need to eat so we have to kill critters to stay alive. Sorry animals and plants but I prefer surviving.

I don't think we have much choice but to eat from the garden and the barnyard.

Oh my! I really will have to lose weight now.. I can't bear the thoughts of my peas, carrots crying when I chew them ... I just can't bear it. I wonder where, what made him begin to think this about fruits, vegetables? The reason I say that is ... something made him come up with that. I'm interested in 'what?' I am going to say that ... for now ... I'll continue to eat vegetables, fruits. But, if i see one little tear ... I promise I won't eat it. I can't bear to hurt anything ... and I sure don't want to bite down on something that can cry like me. I'm going to watch for crying vegetables, fruits
