We are home with Julian. So glad to be out of the hospital, at least for now.
Julian has vesicoureteral reflux (a condition where urine from the bladder goes upward back to the kidneys). He will be going for the VCUG in a week to see if it can be treated with medicine only or if he needs surgery.
Praying and hoping for the best. My little angel has gone through more than enough in his short life! For right now, he is on antibiotics and I am trying to keep him happy and comfortable.
In a few days he has a follow up appointment with his doctor. I will keep y'all updated on everything. Thank you for the prayers and support through everything!

I hope that it is treatable with just medicine rather than needing surgery. Babies are such a blessing, and it saddens me when they have to suffer so much in their short time here. I hope your little guy will be healthy and happy soon!

@LovingMyBabies It is so frustrating as a parent not to be able to help our children and take away their pain and make everything better for them. I am sending positive energy to you and your husband to help you through this time as well, because it is more difficult for you than for Julian ... he won't remember this time but you will always remember it.

@purplealabaster Oh I know! I want so badly to make this all go away for him. And I wanted to make the nurses and doctors leave him alone-but I know they were trying to help him, not hurt him. It was so heart breaking to watch though. =(
Thank God he won't remember it!

So earlier you were saying medicine for life. If they fix this say with surgery would that then mean no meds and no problems.

@fishtiger58 Thank you for asking that because I need to ask the doctor that. They said in the hospital meds for life-but maybe once the surgery is done (if he needs that) it will fix it and he won't need the medicine forever.

@fishtiger58 Yes that will be an extremely tough decision to make and it will take a whole lot of praying to figure out what is best.

@LovingMyBabies You are so welcome. And if the answer is yes to that, then you and your hubby have some deep thinking to do.A surgery that could be dangerous on one so young or meds for life. Wow not a decision I would want to make. Much good luck on whatever you and hubby decided after getting all the facts.

I am not a doctor but it doesnt sound like this could happen from a UTI. It seems that the UTI was caused by the Cesicourteral reflux. I would assume they will have to do surgery to keep his kidneys working correctly or he will just have chronic UTIs. I hope I am wrong and that the medication will be all the fix he needs. I am in love with this photo I just want to hug him. I love babies so much.

@shaggin The UTI was caused because the fluid is just sitting in his kidneys instead of going into his bladder, causing the infection-that's what they told me anyway.
They are going to determine if surgery is needed to avoid the UTI's, their hoping the antibiotics will be enough to keep the infections away. That's why their doing the VCUG, to see how bad his kidneys really are. =(
Thank you! I love this picture too. =)

@LovingMyBabies ....Of course you don't. But, this is the 21st Century and not the dark ages. Ask questions and be sure you see what the outcome is to be and that may help. Fear of the unknown is always scarier than being knowledgeable about what is going on.

@celticeagle Yeah for now he is. I am dreading the procedure he is getting done in a week. I don't want him to have to go for surgery. =(

I am happy for you that he is home now. I really do hope that things go right for your son. No parent wants to see their child hurting or going through something like this. I feel for you. I am sure the doctors will be able to get him fixed. I know it all takes time. But this will eventually become a memory.

@LovingMyBabies I know it has to be hard. But you also have to be strong for him. And it will become a distant memory. So, after reading your first sentence, it seems you had a problem with the comment showing up? Strange. Well, it did and I read and responded. See. LOL. Stay calm, say strong and things will work out.

@inertia4 Let's see if the comment shows up this time! Thank you, it has been heart breaking watching him go through all he has been through. =( Yes, I cannot wait until it is just a bad, distant memory.

I'm glad you guys got an answer and I hope he feels better. Poor little guy! I'm hoping that the medic way works because survey on a little baby just seems so rough.

@LovingMyBabies I searched the subject and that is what it said. I don't know if the doctors think he might not. I don't know. I don't want to give anyone false hope.

@much2say Thank you, I am glad too. The doctors said it was something that needed to be treated, either with meds or surgery because it could damage his kidneys. =( As far as I know it's not something he will ever grow out of.
