In my Hood the woman are all gathering for some tea parties and prayer groups to celebrate the power of Woman Universally.
We are most definitely a force to be reckoned with since we burnt the bra in the 1960's, but with this been said, I think the role behind every woman is to secretly and silently lead their men, their partners, their children . . . in the RIGHT direction.
To my fellow female friends out there - This is a SHOUT OUT to you!!
CLAIM IT!!
Val, Jessalyn, Marie, Anna, Katerina, Joanne, Catherine, Abby, Morley, Judy, Valarie, Jabo, M.L., Deborah, Dianne, and all the others that I might not have seen in the last few days.
Happy International Woman's DAY!!

I like that . . . silently lead their men , their partners , their children . . . in the right direction and that's what i am always doing . Some successful , some not , specially with leading my husband to always go to church with me on Sundays .

You mean there's supposed to be a direction? Where would we men be without women to guide us? (Probably at the pub or the football:-) )

Funny... I said to my husband that I take care of him, make him dinners and lunches and what do I ask in return? He actually responded without hesitating, "A little loving." Wow! We'll see if he remembers that conversation. LOL! I just want to be treated with respect and, of course, loved.

@enlightenedpsych2 I second that statement - Good men know when they have found their BEST catch.

Somehow, I want to say that we have been SILENTLY leading and I wonder if we should make another astounding statement after "Burning of the Bra" and "Silently Leading" to "Outright Loud Leading" since we see failures everywhere after being silent tactful leading for a century.
Look at India, where women are not only being undermined but totally unprotected literally. Women are being mistreated and rapes are so common with blames going onto them. Look at womenfolks in the Middle East who are subjected to brutal and oppressive rules giving them no whatsoever rights nor freedom to express themselves.
So, I wonder if we should start to be vociferous for a change and let some real sense get into some numb skulls that we are equally an asset to the many solutions around us and the world. We are equally capable despite our weaker physique. I will claim it alright but I'd like a change for the better good.
Happy International Women's Day to you.

In the west, women seems to be the target of domestic violence and human trafficking. So, it is no better still at this side of the hemisphere. I say we (women) need to be more assertive and firm for the sake of the generations to come.

Its is a true fact that there are still shortcomings within the liberation and empowerment of Woman in the world, however it remains the oddest thing as in those countries you mention like India - WOMAN are the leaders, yet the woman of the land suffer the most. The eastern World seem hard to change, but we pray that it happens because we know that WOMAN are the corner stone of society.
