Plague Of Frog – Yes Just The One

Photo taken by me – the park behind our house – possibly where a frog might have come from

With my mum hospitalized as you can see from yesterday’s diary onwards, I needed some light relief. As I went to the shop to do some essential errands for her in her absence, I spotted a large lone frog sitting in the middle of the pavement. There is no open water nearby so I can only assume it has wandered off from someone’s garden pond or the nearby Broadhurst Park. It hopped off before I could get a photo of it. It made me think of biblical plagues and supposed raining frogs events but surely that involves lots of frogs, as a single frog on its own is not much of a curse, plague or shower. Plagues involve frogs plural, not frog singular. I’m less than impressed. Arthur Chappell

not so far, expecting bees, rats and darkness any time - hope they leave the first born alone as that is me in our family

I haven´t seen frogs for years, since I went to the country in Summer. There were riversand other places with water there so frogs and toads were common. At my house, my only fight with animals are one or two traspassing ants.

precursor! lol. We have a toad that visits now and then. he likes to chill on the back porch. He actually looks like a dog poo, so I usually freak out when I go to clean up said poo, and it moves...

It could be a tough loner - be afraid! This is the funniest title I've read today :)

This may have been a scout that was sent ahead to reconnoitre before the main plague arrives. F Day may be just around the corner.

The last time I had seen one when I dissected the frog during zoology class in school.

Perhaps the frog you saw was a scout for the horde to follow.

I have not been online very much the past days, I have missed your diary. I am sorry for your Mom. The frogs are moving in early spring, they reach the water to mate. They are arriving at my pond, I can hear them in the night.

I often see a lone frog in my garden in the summer - we have no water nearby, so it's a mystery where he comes from. Hope your mum is ok.

In the spring and summer, during and after a rainfall there are so many frog carcasses on the road. They make a pop when you run over them. Trust me there is no avoiding the hoards that are jumping across the road.

I can remember when we lived in the country, driving home from the city at night when it was raining, and there would be frogs all over the road. At least they were not in the house, as they were during the plague in Egypt.

It is strange, several times I have seen frogs miles from water. Wonder where they were off to?

Surely he must have come from a garden somewhere. I hope he doesn't get squashed.
