Can You Whistle,Friends?

The one thing my friends can do and I can't is whistling, whistling using your mouth.I would say,it's an art and all my friends have been accomplished whistlers.Fascinated by their ability to pull off loud whistling sound from their mouth,I tried to learn the skill, but ended up learning nothing. Some of my classmates were very naughty and would use their art for wrong purposes. They would tease girls by whistling with their mouths. Some others would whistle to call their dogs. They were also able to whistle using their fingers. I still can't whistle using my mouth. Can you? When do you like to whistle? Some say whistling by using your mouth is bad.It does not behove to guys belonging to respectable families.Do you agree?

I agree whistling to tease girls is disrespectful. I don't know how to whistle but it is my frustration because i want to whistle some beautiful tunes.

I am not very good at wolf whistles, using the fingers to whistle... But I can whistle quite well and loudly just through pursed lips, enough to call the dog when he is some distance away. I had not realised that having teeth was a requirement...

@else34 Sometimes the harder you try something the harder it is to accomplish.

I've always been able to whistle. It's not bad unless you use it in the wrong context.

@zebra2222,Like you,I can't understand why some people hate whistling. If you don't use it to tease girls, what's wrong with it?

It is simply a gesture of disrespecting people. It could be possible if you are really close to someone or somebody.

There is no stigma about whistling in our country. I can whistle but I'm not very good. I rarely whistle now so I'm not going to get any better I guess.

@JudyEv,Here in India there are people who whistle to tease girls. That's why people think it's bad.But the same guys often whistle sweet melodies so wonderfully that I get amazed.Still society does not approve whistling in public.

@else34 Here, we call it 'wolf whistling' at girls. Is that what it's called there too? You don't here much whistling here - maybe on building sites.

I don't know how I feel about whistling. I never really thought about it before. It doesn't seem it makes you any less respectable.
