Flooding in Louisiana

The rain is over in Louisiana, but not the flooding. This week's torrential rains have brought historic flooding to Louisiana. Some areas of the state received over 20 inches of rain in the matter of a few days. My own community was spared but many were not so lucky.
This is a photo of Haughton, Louisiana where one of my niece's lives. She did not lose her home but said they were trapped there for several days. They did have food, so they were okay.
I have another niece who is waiting to hear if they will have to evacuate because the waters keep rising. Mississippi is also facing flooding.
Many have lost homes and a few have lost lives. Homes are material things and although it's hard, they can be replaced. I just pray for everyone's safety as we face more flooding here in Louisiana.

It is really a reliving for many people there I am sure with the memories of Katrina, even though not on that scale, but damage is damage.
I am glad to know you were spared in it but sorry to hear of your two nieces in the flood.

Glad to hear you weren't stuck in the flooding. Are you still living in the same place where you locked yourself out and had a dog pin you when you tried to get back in?
I, too, hope everyone stays safe.

@jahunt Who could forget your stories of being locked out? Did the landlord ever get the AC to stop leaking water?

If only you could export such of that water to drought ridden California.

@jahunt We would take it all especially in the Central Valley. I don't want it here in LA!

sounds bad - not nice to face flood water but the danger from alligators moving with the water makes it so much worse

We are prone to storms and tropical systems and have an expansive system of waterways throughout the state. When this happens rivers and lakes tend to overflow their banks.

I was watching it on the news @jahunt . I thought what we got was bad but not compared to Louisiana. I sincerely hope all those people have flood insurance.

Thank you. I know you are familiar with flooding too. We will be okay. I just hope it doesn't rain any more!

It is sad. Hopefully, the rain will stay away and let us dry out.
