Revenge Of The Geese

About 22 years ago, I took my then 4-year-old son to the park. I dosed off on a bench and was awoken by terror-filled shrieks. I looked up and saw that a flock of geese had decided that my son was going to be their dinner.
I grabbed him and we made it to the car virtually eaten-free. Well, today he is 26 years old and he decided to take his dirt bike for a ride near the cranberry bogs. He was going about 55 miles per hour when a goose came out of nowhere and crashed into his helmet.
After about five unwanted body flips, he saw his bike sail over his head. I remembered the goose story from 22 years prior and I told him about it. When I finished, he looked at me and said, “Today, vengeance was theirs.”
No worries, he is banged up a bit, but he sustained no major injuries. I congratulated him for being the first one in our family to be the victim of a drive-by goose attack.

He could have been hurt much worse. He was blessed.

@RussTeed And they probably have those 'teeth' on their beaks like swans. But I wouldn't be going after them bare-handed!

@OneOfMany Yes, a militaristic approach is advised, and your dinner that day will have been decided.

Geese can be vicious no doubt. I try not to cross paths with them.

Geese can be brutal..truly.
My Irish Granny (RIP) loved them but they sometimes would bash their thick necks on her poor little bony legs.
He is fine your son..a grand lad able to protect himself, thanks to you.

In December I was the victim of a turkey attack. About six of them flew up ahead of me. One hitting the top edge of the windshield. Fortunately there was no damage. I ducked just in case.

@RussTeed my son inlaw is a long haul trucker. He was sidelined a few years ago when a wild turkey took out his windshield the week before Thanksgiving.

Although this is a funny story, for a change it's a true one and it wouldn't have been so funny had your son been taken to ER. He may need to buy a special horn to ward off geese so they don't continue to attack him every few years.
