My best friend is my mother

My mother came to visit me last week and she is leaving today. I already miss her amazing home cooked meals and her tinkling laughter. We spent hours chatting about random things and laughing so hard. She has an iron clad positive attitude and a crazy sense of humor and it is really hard to stay serious or sad when she is near. She has this ability to make even a stranger or a neighbor feel comfortable at our home. She came to my store the other day and was very proud of what I was doing with it. She has an amazing rapport with my husband and son. I watched the french movie Intouchables (with English Subtitles) with her. I loved that movie and I knew my mother would appreciate it. Last Saturday, I made a special lunch for her - hot n sour veg soup, mushroom biryani, pepper chicken fry, mushroom masala and pineapple custard. She said she felt like she was the daughter and I was her mother when I pampered her so. That for me is the greatest compliment! She always tells me - You can always make money. But you can't always make memories. So make the best of your atmosphere. No matter how much time, I spend with my mother together, it never seems enough. I will see her again next month when I visit my native but seeing her leaving is hard. Image Credit: Claudia Trembley

Father daughter relationship is always over emphasized but mother daughter relationships are equally special.

@Scindhia Fathers start off as heroes to children but could well end up as zeroes later. Mothers remain mothers all their lives even when their own children are grandmothers themselves! siva

Thats true. And most of the time, we end up taking our mothers for granted.

It is lovely that you have such a good rapport with your mother. She is very wise to say you can't always make memories. That is very true.

Thats why unlike many mothers she insists that I spend money on happy and crazy things while I can - like if I want a crazy haircut I should go for it now as I'm young she says.

It's good that you have spent a very good time with your mom. Is she staying very far away from you? Hope you'll get to visit each other often.

My mother was always my best friend. I miss her so much. Enjoy every moment you can with yours. I have heard of others not speaking to each other. I still don't see how that is possible!!!!!
