How often do you do your groceries?

In a household of 3, I always end up heading out to the grocery every 2 weeks. I believe it's a good gap so that the vegetables and fruits that I buy are still fresh and we do not stock up on food, only for it to rot later or the product will get expired.
What about you?

I see. It's once a week even for the other groceries too? Does that mean you buy them in small portions?

Usually, I go out for grocery once every week. But for the fresh veggies, I go daily. I prefer not to stock up food and make it rot uselessly.

My mom usually shop that is good for the whole week for fruits, raw meets etc... But go shop for other things that is good for one month like shampoo, soap, colgate etc.

yes, I do this too however there are some items that I buy in small packages especially if it's a new product that I just want to try.
However sometimes the problem is if I do not want to go out or if schedule does not permit us to go to the market - that's a BIG problem.

It's every week especially weekends. But I buy fruits and veggies every other day in the wet market.

We do it once to twice a week. But the fruits and veggies are not bought at the grocery. We buy them at the market about twice a week too.

@brokenbee We are a bit close to a small market in our area but I do not prefer buying fish or meat there especially with this hot weather. I am not sure how fresh they are. Not being bad but their products are exposed to the harsh rays of the sun and I am not sure how long has the fish or meat been there. I have not gotten the time of the day when they replenish their stocks.
I do buy vegetables and fruits because it is way cheaper than the supermarkets.

@funkeyguhl yes, we can just walk going to the market. But other times, we prefer to go to the other town where the fish are cheaper and fresh.

It's usually my husband who does the grocery shopping now. He always does that once or twice a week. I don't think our vegetables or fruits can stock up to so long, we usually finish them within a week. My husband prefers to buy lesser vegetables at one time, but do the groceries more often, so the vegetables will be fresher. Since the market is just within walking distance, and he does the groceries quite fast, so he doesn't mind.

@funkeyguhl Yes, sometimes he goes to the hypermarket to buy the groceries on weekdays after work, it usually takes him less than an hour. Sometimes he goes to the wet market on weekend's morning.

@kaka135 I see. So sweet of him.
My husband also goes to the wet market (he does it a bit faster when I am not around because he goes there with his bike).
I give him a list and thankfully, he is able to complete and bring them all home :p

We're a family of 5, so we tend to do it once a week. Sometimes, we'll have to go out again to pick up a couple of things for my girls' snacks for school, for instance. So sometimes it does end up being twice in a week. There have been times when it's three, but that's rare. It's just not always easy with a family like ours. Our kids are growing as well. So, we have to do what we have to, in order to make sure we have food in the house for them.

I understand. I remember when we were kids, my mom would end up being in the grocery every week because she either buys our snacks or dinner especially when we have impromptu guests like relatives, friends, etc.

Thankless? I don't think it's a thankless job because this first exercise will be the way for you to be able to stock up with food and other items in your house.
My husband and I enjoy doing this together because it serves as our down time together.

that is very true but at times, it feels a bit taxing to be going out and about every week so I try to do it every two weeks.

I work for a grocery store so I shop most nights that I work. I'd have to say atleast twice a week, sometimes three or four.

three or four? is it because you need to buy some ingredients for a meal that you just thought of for the day?

this is very true and you also tend to buy stuff that you don't really need but still end up buying (oh dear).

I want to experience going to a farmer's market. We only have a wet market here in the Philippines and sometimes it is not a pretty sight :(
