So, I decided to learn German. I'm currently subscribed to a German language course online and it's quite fun. I absolutely love interactive learning and I think I've improved my level quite a lot. I've studied previously at school, so it was not a new thing for me, but still I'm finding the grammar hard at times.

I tried learning German decades ago and gave up.

@marlina If you don't use it, it's not a bad decision. I'm planning to use it in a project, that's why it's important for me.

@pandyaparil I find words, which are similar to English ones, easy to remember. I use mostly online interactive courses like duolingo, memrise and quizlet. I also have a German textbook with grammar rules, but they' are kind of boring to read. Regarding difficult words, I need a lot of repetition, before I finally learn them.

I haven't learned German before, but it seems it is much more difficult than English. Its spelling is also long and complicated to me. But today due to the internet, you can learn any foreign language easily. Since it is easy to look for a German friend and you can practise your German.

Yes, some words are extremely long, especially the ones that consist of other words. Finding a German friend is a good idea, but I think I should find many of them to practice understanding different people.

@cupkitties Thanks. I'm doing my best whenever I can find a spare minute. I prefer working online than going to a traditional course. It's far more flexible.

Are you able to get the duolingo app? I've heard it's pretty good. There are sites all over the net specializing in learning languages hands on. Italki.com (you pay but it's not too much) you can practice with real people who are native in the language.

Yes, duolingo is exactly what I'm using. It's very popular, many of my friends use it. I've already finished the whole course and greatly improved my vocabulary. Still the grammar is hard at times. I've tried other sites as well, but I was not very focused there. Better save my energy for just one place.

German grammar, difficult if you have not been around German speakers for a while... And even then, there is still the occasional stumble.

I had only one friend, who was German. I try learning from listening or watching German TV and videos. Without practice, it's always difficult.
