Most people enjoy the sweet flavor of a banana. They are convenient and easy to add to your diet. As well as being rich in natural sugars bananas also have Vitamin A, iron, potassium, phosphorus and carbohydrates that out shine the apple. Being a great source of natural energy makes this a super food. There are many health benefits in this delectable yellow fruit and adding several a week to ones diet can add to ones well-being. Some interesting benefits of the fruit are:
1. A good choice for that afternoon snack so you don't get the mid day woes and eating two bananas can give you the energy to exercise for an hour and a half.
2. Peels can also aid in getting rid of warts. By wrapping the peel so it rubs against the wart it will disappear.
3. Potassium rich bananas help the body deliver oxygen to the brain and keeps a balance of water in the body. They also regulate the blood pressure, reduces strokes and keeps circulation working.
4. They have vitamin b6 in them which regulates the blood glucose and help with menstrual cramping.
5. They can help with a hangover by replenishing the body's vitamins. It tends to calm the stomach and brings the blood sugar back to normal levels.
6. Bananas can also help with the unpleasant effects(both physical and psychological) of stopping the use of nicotine and so it is a help in stopping smoking.
7. They also help with morning sickness in pregnant women. It also helps to regulate the body temperature.
8. Promotes bowel health. They have a certain type of fiber that helps to regulate and helps to stop constipation, maintaining regular functioning of the bowel.
9. They also help to neutralize discomfort from acidity and irritation of the digestive system by coating a protective layer to the inner walls of the stomach.
10. Bananas are rich in iron and helps in hemoglobin production in the body and this helps blood clot faster in the case of a serious injury. This also helps with heartburn.
11. Instead of the creams you get at the drug store to relieve the itching and swelling of misquito bites you might try the peeling of a banana.
12. The peelings make a excellent fertilizer. By burying afew near a rose bush you want to bloom in a few weeks it will be full of them.
Do you like them? Eat them often?

@mammots ......I get the very greenest I can find. They ripen so fast. The black spots mean they are ripening. I like them green.

@TiarasOceanView when you buy bananas in the supermarket please choose those with lots of dark spots on their skin.

@celticeagle Banana nut bread is a favorite. I even mash them and add egg to fry into a pancake.

Great list! I didn't know many of these. I can't eat a banana on its own (don't know why but I just can't). However, I love a soft banana spread on a toasted English muffin with some peanut butter for breakfast. Or in cereal. Or in ice cream. :) Potassium with my ice cream always makes me feel better about the ice cream. :)

@celticeagle Sounds like you've never had a banana split. It's dangerously addictive but I don't mind. They are great in the summer heat. :)

There are lots of things in nature that are very beneficial to our health. I especially like number four and will keep that in mind when I am feeling discomfort and don't have any Midol.
On a sidenote it's funny that you should mention banana's tonight because I was just looking through some of sensual oils that I actually have banana flavoring

Interesting. You wouldn't think of bananas in that way.

@celticeagle I think I responded to this while on my phone. "Sensual" is supposed to be "essential" and there should be no "i" before actually.
Yes I thought it was weird as I have never seen anything like it. It would be something that personally I'd combine with chocolate.

I like them a lot. Despite all the health positives you list, there are arguments against bananas for having some sugar content and being too fattening. I say the benefits far outweigh whatever supposed negatives are.

There is always that. I have even seen write ups about too much water being toxic so I think most things like this have to be taken in on an individual basis.
