Where do you find treasures?

My photo is a free image from the internet, but I have a huge bottle of marbles my dad has found over the years. My brother has one or rather his wife does, from her growing up years. These are just a few things that people collect and treasure. I consider a bargain like I found today a treasure. That is a great buy for storage and it is uniquely painted. See my previous discussion for a picture. Treasures I like the best though, are friends. Friends like I have here and other places online. Friends like the ones I ran into at Walmart and we talked for hours while shopping. Gotta keep your eyes open to really find treasures.

Treasures? Most likely the experiences that I get from day to day. Those are treasures that no one can take away from me.

You are right @allen0187 in saying that experiences are a type of treasure that no one can take away.

I bet with some wire those would make cool necklaces, or in mason jars be pretty in windows.

Right now they are in a big plastic clear container. I could a) put them all together in a big glass container I have, or b) put them in my neat collection of jelly jars and the like that have multiple sides.

@Jessicalynnt I have seen someone use the large jar for glass fruit, and I have some so that may be what I do. I have always put the flat glass craft marbles in these neat jars and real marbles will look good as well.

That is so true. There are a lot of treasures everywhere actually, we just have to open our eyes and appreciate what those treasures are.

I think appreciation is the key. It is what turns the everyday item into a treasure. I appreciate my friends here.

@GardenGerty True. It only takes appreciation to really consider something a treasure.

I no longer find or look for treasures..though I used to enjoy browsing them in various shops mostly thrift stores or on ebay. I do not want to collect stuff Heather as I never know if I have to move again.

"Stuff" is hard to deal with and can slow us down unless they are treasures of the mind.

Thrift stores for me... I found a brand new Tinker Bell backpack at Goodwill this afternoon. Kid gets off the bus and immediately tells me that the zipper on her current backpack broke today... yep, that was meant to be! That cabinet you got is awesome! I can't wait to see what you do with it.

The cabinet will hold large serving pieces and small appliances most likely. I am short of places for them. I have some gorgeous antique cake plates and the like. Love thrift stores.

I find little treasures in many places. While emptying my parents house, I discovered six embroidered quilt squar s my mother had finished, waiting to be used in a quilt. They were located in a pile of easy to discard mending. It would have be easy to overlook, but I had already learned that every bag must be opened, and each item moved, one at a time.

It is good you found them, to someone else they might not be treasures. It is hard to go through the things that were our parents. I have pieced Dresden plates that my Dad's mom made in a box somewhere. They do not have their centers or backs. Need to do something to show them off.

@GardenGerty I decided to do this right away. If I put it off, it might not happen.

I believe the best treasures you can have are your good friends. Seond comes from second hand stores or garage sales when the prices are reasonable.

The word has changed its meaning for me along the years. Now I am collecting magnets for the fridge (only when I travel). I almost killed my brother when we were small over a beautiful African stamp.

Unfortunately artists are often poor. I admire this intricate woven piece.

Treasure hunting can be lots of fun! I had a small collection of marbles as a child, but I have no idea now what happened to them, maybe discarded when I left home.

I am not sure where these came from that my dad gave me. Possibly from his old house growing up for some of them.

Speaking of marbles, I did not like it when our 2 sons were growing up and had marbles. I was very nervous about finding a loose one somewhere and somebody would slip on it.
