Exercise, diet or both?

This is crazy, its all over the internet. Every Tom, Dick or Harry is advising either you got to be exercising or dieting or else die early! I must confess I got trapped once or twice into this cycle of craziness eager to lose weight and get into the cloths I used to wear when younger. But then realized that the human body is not designed like that, and no one can really defy the perfection of God's work.
We are what we are depending on a lot of factors, and can't change one or two of those factors and expect the whole to change.
Just as the baby in the womb takes 9 months to develope and get ready for this world, similar way we have spent a life time getting where we are and can't suddenly change all that by eating 500 calories less or walking 20 minutes more.
Now that I re-read what I wrote , fell like contradicting myself ( maybe my second smarter self writing now, split personality). I think if we put our mind to it we can make a difference in whatever aspect of our life. All we need will power.

2 Years ago, I was 262 pounds (I am 6 foot 5"), but that was about 70 lbs over weight. My wife and I had a friendly challenge for 10 week period. I used myfitnesspal application to count calories and I dropped to 189 (to low for me). Everyone was asking, what was the Miracle Diet and excercise program were you on. My answer was, umm I counted calories and no exercise. Now what I do is I try to eat healtier sometimes and if I notice that my pants are getting more snug, than I count calories for 2-3 weeks.
Yes it is funny that everyone says use this pill or do this diet, etc. Yes, those programs may work, but I would rather start simple and if that does not work, than try other things.

I agree. I've also heard that the faster you lose the weight, the faster you'll gain it back, so it's not good to lose weight really quickly. It's usually best to slowly incorporate more and more natural foods (like fruits and vegatabkes) into your diet and decrease the amount of processed food you eat at the same time. Then you can start exercising and your body will have the macronutrients it needs to build muscle from your exercising.

I like a lot to practice physical exercise.
I know you have people who just do to lose weight or obligation.
The exercises have so many good benefits for our life, and this can be seen every day in various surveys that are made and those who have already been made, proving that.
I have lost 20kg practicing exercise and a diet.

I think losing weight entails a perfect balance of eating in moderation and exercising in the best way that suits an individual. Some people are built to be more active where they can lift weights and run marathons but others are only able to walk and do stretching exercises. Once a person knows what they can do in the exercise field, they should do it in moderation and eat properly and they will lose weight and maintain weight.

if I do both, diet and exercise, I could do much better, but I exercise, I don't focus on weight as much as I should be. Weight will always come and go, I won't stress out over it, like I used to when I was younger, the older I get the more comfortable I am with me. That doesn't mean, I should not watch my weight.. I could stand to lose a few pounds.

Little changes that you stick to can give you amazing results if you give it enough time. For example, I started lifting weights a little more and eating a little less - increasing my protein, decreasing my refined sugars - and I am seeing measurable results even in the first few weeks. You just have to be in tune with your body, willing to make little but significant changes, and realize that you are not helpless.
