I tried to commute everyday by public transport. I tried to eat in diners (carenderia in our dialect) where you can have lunch or dinner at less than a hundred pesos ( a little less than 2 dollars). I notice that my pocket money are not all spent. I am able to save a little everyday and I keep the money in my little coin bottle (alkansya or toybank) .

O, how I wish my wife is like you! Give her $500 and she would spend it in one day! . . When we bought our house she contributed not even a cent to the down payment of $25,000.00! We are both college graduates . . but her late father was a doctor while my parents were poor farmers.

I have been living simply since the last financial crisis or down turn of 2007-08 , it taught me to be prepared and always expect that something bad could happen to our finances anytime when we least expect. It's nice that you are saving. never know when you will need it

yes, by making simply changes we can save a lot. making your own lunches certainly helps. cooking meals in bulk and freezing is another good tip. Free attractions .... museums, art galleries and making use of the library instead of buying papers or books.
