Marriage is great but I think it is okay for people to not be marriage and still live together. Basically here if people are together for 10 years they are able to have a Civil union which is like Marriage. Marriage is good for taxes and such haha! Also if people like that ceremonial bond. It is all by choice.

You sound like marriage is a economical thing!! Here it is believed as marriage is divine and live in together is a taboo. I have one doubt though! Whose responsibility is the child after the couple break up in live in together? Do they have any responsibility in live in together? Is it self imbibed responsibility or legal one?

@DesirousDreamer Ohh! No emotional bond. Here marriage is a must. Mostly in Asia this is followed. I guess Asians are more emotional!! For me personally it would be hard to choose between mom and dad. Here parents and children live together too!!

@mkrnex It happens a lot here with custody battles, normally if the couple break up and both want custody they normally pick one parent the kid lives with and will visit the other parent. Or it is decided between the parents with no battles. And marriage in America is basically economical really. It is a tax benefit and also there are things as prenups and then alimony. It is all about money in the end sadly. I love the sacred bond of marriage. But it is not always needed for everyone.

I get married not only to meet my need to have a fair relationship but also to meet tradition in my religion. I think nothing better than marriage to preserving relationships.

Absolutely right. In India too marriages are linked with tradition. Marriage here is between two families. But modern culture may be spoiling it. This may be a possibility. As film stars now a days are showing bad examples to the society.

@mkrnex Yes, agree with you, public figure such as artists, film stars and politicians often give bad examples about marriage. I fell sorry with this situation. Do you think so?

@srisahara For example Hrithik Roshan a Bollywood superstar got divorced . Aamir Khan too did that. They divorce like it is a game. So, you obviously feel bad about it. In Hollywood this number increases manifold.

It is god made bond. Marriages are made in heaven. It brings happiness to the family in a great way.

Marriage is always good. Ancestors have linked it with some divine relationship. God made bond. But I am thinking as time passes this institution may face challenges . But it is to stay here for long. Divorce is good in some conditions but divorcing like a game is not good I believe!

I think some countries need to update their beliefs. Too much religion involved between two people can often spell disaster.

Yes. Too much intervention by elders will create havoc. But it will also create bliss if done in the right way. Always interest of couples comes first. Marriage is treated as divine so playing it as a game degrades it sometimes.

Actually it's not all about staying with a single partner or changing partner often; taking one's responsibility for life or staying free. Because if you are responsible, you will show it in a live-in bond, if you are ignorant, you will make a hell out of a marriage.
You know where is the difference? Live-in relationship does not have the threat of a dictator kind of mother-in-law!

I believe in the institution of marriage; I got married a week ago after three years of excellent partnership. I know many people who say that there's no difference with or without the rings, but I feel closer, more secure and happy that I swore to be with my partner in front of my family and friends. Also, in Poland, we have a custom of taking our husbands' surname, but we both decided to take our surnames, and I think that it strengthened our bond. I would love, though, that every person would have an equal right to the marriage.
