How do you remain mindful?

For the past few years I've focused on improving mindfulness and focus in the present moment.
For example I take time to try and focus on the experience right in front of me (like the feel of the keys as I type this, the reflection off the screen, the feel of my body in the chair), as well as making sure I keep things in perspective in general.
How about you?

It is very tough for me to do so.
I have many distractions and pulling forces to deal with both day and night..it does not end in sleep for me.
But I do my very best to survive all this by trying to focus on me and what I am trying to do.

It's always a challenge but I think always worth it to try to do.

I sometimes, take a moment to look at my thoughts:
If I see myself thinking about something bad, I feel sad and stressed, so I try to figure out how did that thought came into my mind. How did I think about what makes me feel bad ?
Sometimes, I hear or see something, read something and some of the words wake up a thought and some words from that thought wake up another thought... like hyperlinks on the internet, like surfing the internet.
So, I understand how I came to feel bad, I know how to reverse it. I think about something else, I take control of my thoughts. Well, that's one aspect of mindfulness for me. It is having some self awareness.
The definition of mindfulness is not short and mindfulness is a part of spirituality that is even a bigger thing.
