Today I cancelled a credit card

In fact I mainly use two credit cards. I have an extra just because at that time there was a promotion for it and therefore I applied for it. I seldom will use that extra credit card. Since I have to use it six times so that it will not charge me any fees. So today I plan to take it out and use it. However, I can't find it and it is quite strange. I am sure it should be in somewhere at home, but it means nothing if I can't find it. Since that, I decided to cancel my credit card. I think this reason is quite weird.

Good thing you've already cancelled it. If it's lost somewhere outside then some people might be able to use it.

@youless Well that's good, I also have that feature wherein a text message will be sent to me every time I use my card so that I will be aware of unwanted use or fraud.

@TiarasOceanView Here I think it will not have an effect on the available credit. In fact my credit is very high and I even told the bank not to give me so high credit because it was enough for me. If they give me too high credit, it will be a problem if someone uses my credit card.

@youless I wonder where it went youless? It is strange my friend.. Here if you cancel a credit card even if not lost, it reduces your available credit, thus reducing your total credit score.

Cancelling may not be a bad idea. Hopefully it all goes well and you don't have to worry about it.

I think, I will do same action if I could not see my credit card. I am not a fan of it but when I decided to travel, I found out that a credit card will be very useful. I am also careful of using it and I also let my credit limit low.

@youless I was given a credit card before but I decided to cut it because I get afraid of those that get into huge debts by those credit card companies. But when I found out, I really need to have at least one credit card, I gave it a try. When I inquired the teller about credit card application, I also opened to her my concern about those negative news of owning one. She gave me clear instructions on how can I be always safe with my credit card.

@annierose In fact today it is easy and common to use the credit card. It is even safer than the debit card in my opinion.

I find that it is extremely hard to cancel a credit card. The bank officer will keep on asking why, and they refuse to cancel it after they promise to do it. It is so annoying that I do not want to sign up for new card anymore.;

Here applying for a credit card is easy and cancelling it is not difficult, too. But I just feel strange that the staff didn't ask me more information to indentify I am the credit card holder. And she didn't even ask me why

@scheng1 They are supposed to verify my identification like you said. But perhaps I have another credit card from their bank, so I think it is reasonable to cancel the extra one.

@youless If you have not changed the phone number, they probably assume that the holder of the phone is the holder of the credit card. Over here, they will verify the date of birth, address and IC number even if they can see my phone number displayed in their system.

I have two credit cards too. But, I use both of it every month. In my country, the government has a service charge for every cards. Hence, if we have many cards, we will be charged a lot. Maybe it is because some people own too many cards and do not know to manage it.

Here most credit cards will not charge you so much. Especially if you can use it for several times a year, then it can be free of charge.

Since it is untraceable you did a good thing by cancelling it. You prevented the misuse of the credit card by any one.

If later I find it at home, perhaps I will feel regretful to cancel it so early? Anyway, it is easy to apply for a new one.

Oh no. That is scary. Have you double checked to make sure no fraudulent charges are on it? Hopefully not. Better safe than sorry. I have done this before and found it around the house later. But you just never know!

No reason is valid if you don't find your credit card then you must cancel it . I don't use credit cards as I don't like credits

I only keep one credit card to use when buying big items. And I pay it right away, so I never pay a cent in interests.
