Me- Where did you learn this behavior of telling the most inane fictitious stories of pointless mishaps and mayhem just to draw attention to yourself, young man?
Him- (silence… head hung low...)
Me- I want an answer right now!
Him- YOU! I LEARNED IT BY WATCHING YOU!!!
ME- ... Oh dear God son, you can't carry on this way... your future will be hopeless, meaningless, a disgrace. The world... just isn't ready... for another really dumb story teller, that's my roll.
Look at my life, I am the result of this behavior (son GASPS loudly and jumped back). Build a future, a life, have a crumb of self-respect and honor. LIVE! LIVE darn it!
(In a crying whisper) ... just ... live, son...

You should be ashamed of yourself, making your son feel guilty for emulating your behaviour.

Ah yes, but creative liars make the difference. Lying just to lie not so much.

That is the best "wake-up call" in the world - telling their children they will be like you when they grow up!

@RussTeed Yup, it is better than the "scared straight" tactics for sure!

@purplealabaster Agreed, the last thing they want is to have resemblance of their parent.

I hate when you can catch a liar.

I tried telling my daughter she would grow up to be just like you, Russ! SMH!
She did read a few of your posts before she would say anything, but after reading several, she agreed... You will not be her role model! She says she prefers to be funny!
I'm pretty happy with that type of outlook from her!

@RussTeed After she said that I giggled for at least five minutes before telling you what she said! (It just made me giggle again after re-reading it! LOL!)
Well, she isn't going far... She is agoraphobic, so rarely leaves her room... (That's true.)
