Inky the Octopus has apparently escaped a New Zealand aquarium. Get this, someone left his tank lid slightly ajar and in the middle of the night, he worked his way to the top of his cage, slithered down the side, across the floor and many believe he made it into a drainpipe that let out directly to the sea. Inky was originally brought to the aquarium after being caught by a local fisherman. Enjoy your well-earned freedom as you become the envy of escape artists and jail-break wannabes everywhere! Inky, we salute you!
An octopus has made a brazen escape from the national aquarium in New Zealand by breaking out of its tank, slithering down a 50m drain pipe and disappearing into the sea.

Who says they don't have backbones? I'd say that was a pretty gutsy escape.

I liked it. If octopi have guts, he had a lot of them.

Good for Inky - he must have found it very confining to be in an aquarium,

It seems odd to think of an octopus on land, although I am aware that they can survive well on land.
