How do you bring yourself back to the present moment?

I've been working on my mindfulness and recapturing that sort of mindful present thinking that is so important to have. But when your thoughts wander how do you bring yourself back to the present moment and keep yourself from wandering down the rabbit hole of to do lists, past memories, and anything else your mind is thinking of while you're missing out on the moment you are in right now?
I've often been impressed by the talks by Eckert Tolle and while I don't follow him completely, I've come to appreciate some of his concepts and takes on mindful thinking.

I haven't tried this but I have heard of it. It's hard to keep yourself "in the present", or at least it is for me. How do you keep forcused? I find that I become a zombie after a little while, especially after work, where I am just beyond zoning out. If you have any good advice - definitely share.

I think it's more about focusing on the present and just taking in the entire experience of the moment. Letting thoughts arise but only seeing them kind of float by like clouds rather than acting on or letting your mind wander with those thoughts. And the actual moment to moment experience, like how do the keys feel as you type.

@quickinstinct Interesting. I should practice that.

@maezee In small doses at a time it seems helpful to build the mindfulness muscle. I'm still working on it.
