Acidic Coffee - Did you know?

My daily coffee could be as lethal as Battery acid - did you know that coffee contains high levels of acid?
"Coffee is highly acidic and it can stimulate the hypersecretion of gastric acids. Decaffeinated coffee has been shown to increase acidity to a greater degree than either regular coffee or caffeine alone. Both caffeine and coffee stimulate gastric acid secretion and decaffeinated coffee raises serum gastrin levels."
Doctors orders came through about 3 weeks ago that I am to avoid coffee, or preferably never drink it again, however I cannot get my morning kick-start with a cuppa TEA, it not the same.
So I am working on some kind of solution . . . . how to find a low acid coffee for my morning wake-up and then I promise to do the Total-Tea-thing-throughout-the-day.
My photo is of the NZ postcard STAMP i got yesterday - I thought i would share it as I was having my wake-up coffee of the day.
Did you know?

I agree to your opinion Mr. Scheng1. We should not drink coffee more than twice, I guess.

Yes, I know there is some acidity in coffee but that has not deterred me from having my morning and afternoon cups of coffee :)

@sunrisefan No - I will not let it get the better of me - I shall cut down and eventually stop, but without going cold turkey.

i fear i was ne'er fond 'f coffee myself, but do know 'bout the acidity's we battled such with my momma (she's severe ulcerative colitis). the solution was to put a pinch'f bakin' soda (jest a wee pinch) 'n that seems to be treatin' her alright. 'pparently, it neutralizes the acidity without effectin' the flavor.
best'f luck to ya! makin' changes to ones habits aint pleasant. i can truly empathize with ya'n that. big hugs!

So you are also a non coffee person now. I suppose it will take some getting used to, I do feel a lot better and slowly I feel the difference. But I will have to find something to give me that little hype as every day since i stopped the coffee, I have been feeling kind-of flat by 4pm - when I played bowls on Saturday, i barely got through my last game. That wont do - so I am on the search for a good replacement, but with less risk to my health.

I have drunk coffee since I was at Junior High School. I haven't had or felt any negative effect of drinking coffee.

I think I vaguely knew. When Husband became ill his symptoms didn't start showing properly until he'd stopped drinking copious amounts of coffee; whether it was just masking the symptoms or part of the cause, we don't know. As it happens I'd just arrived back at my desk with a very rare coffee when I stumbled upon this post! Now all I can think of is that it's a cup of acid! :)
