Anime looks childish as I grow old

I used to be crazy for anime! I enjoyed thus OP and ED songs and adored everything japanese. However as I grew older, I felt things change. Watching anime now makes me think how childish they are. And the songs don't feel enjoyable any more. Does anyone experience this?

I still like opening and ending songs. But I watch anime rarely these days. I still read manga though. Sometimes I hear the songs and never see the actual anime. The music is great in those cases and I find I don't even need the story associated with it.
I guess it depends on which anime you watch too. Adult themed ones are certainly more entertaining than gundams or fighting series.

@OneOfMany It's only censored if it's dubbed and aired during the daytime. Most adult animes that are dubbed and aired in the evening aren't censored.

@akalinus I tend to like to read manga because it is more graphic. Anime is generally meant for a younger audience and is censored and not as intense in its themes.

Ha ha, yes I think so as well. I wasn't huge into anime although there were a few programs on Adult Swim that I used to watch frequently (Cowboy Bebop! Inuyasha! That's it I think). They do definitely look strange as an adult....same with most cartoons. I guess there's just something about growing older, I like to watch shows with real people now!

I still love anime. Then again I am not even 30 yet so. But there are so many genres. Perhaps you can find 1 that suits your taste. Not all are kiddie.

Not everyone does like it and that's ok. It just depends on the person. I was lucky enough to find a man that shares my love of anime, movies and video games. I had my own crowd in school that liked that stuff as well.

@akalinus My mom actually likes a couple of mine that I own. Mostly the ones with a good love story lol. She doesn't like a lot of the fighting ones though like DBZ. It bores her.

You might wanna start watching anime that's more for age group which would be the Seinen Anime. Series like Ghost In The Shell, Joker Game, Cowboy Bebop, Big O, Jormungrand, Hellsing, Hellsing Ultimate, Claymore, Stein's Gate, Onepunch Man, Mushishi, Black Lagoon, Baccuno, and Casshern Sins to name a few.
Though given what the anime community on the internet tends to shove in our faces, I'm not surprised you wouldn't be aware of other types of anime. You also might wanna try sports related animed anime like Level e, Hajime No Ippo, Ashita No Joe, Slam Dunk, Eyeshield 21, Haikyuu, Kuroko No Basket, Diamond No Ace, Prince Of Stride...

I still like anime even i 27 years old now and i like anime song. I very like Japan! Anime not like other cartoon. Some anime not suitable for kid to watch if it have violent scene and romantic scene.
