~Feeling Guilty~

I was upset earlier as most of you know about our anniversary. We did have a good day with the kids though. =) I am grateful for that. Earlier I was venting about what happened with our friend cancelling watching our kids. Well on the way home from us being out I started feeling really bad about how ungrateful I was being. We stopped at the gas station and there was a homeless man laying by a dumpster. It just made me feel a strong feeling of guilt. I have a bed to sleep in tonight, a roof over my head, a husband and kids that love me so much, food to eat, and no addiction problem (he is an alcoholic-admitted by himself to my husband). So, I am feeling grateful tonight for what I DO have!

@minisam Well we all complain at times and that is part of being human. But seeing that guy put things in perspective for me. I am so grateful we are not homeless again.

@miniam Yes we have been homeless twice, once living in a tent in winter with our newborn and once living in a motel with 3 of our children while I was pregnant with Julian.

There is always somebody worse off. That does not mean our problems are not important though.

@norcal Yes there is, and we were much worse off not that long ago when we were homeless ourselves. Really grateful we are not homeless now.

It takes a scene like that to make us realize we have a much better life and our disappointments are not as big as others.

@toniganzon Yes it does. Well our disappointments still matter-even if they are small. But I am glad I have what I do and we are not homeless anymore.

I have never ever been homeless or without a host of possessions, a lot of which I can manage without, I've never sacrificed my health for an addiction, yet I know that I'm grateful. And although I don't have everything in the world I give thanks each and every day because I've seen what you've seen, and read about this, and as a result I know that I am blessed. Nobody has it all, and if they try to tell you that they do, then they are missing something personally, but we can all be grateful for what we have and pray for those that obviously have less.

@Juliaacv I am glad you have never been homeless, you are very lucky. We have been there and it was the worst time in our life. Seeing him made me remember when we were without a home, and it made me grateful for what I do have.

@LovingMyBabies The important part is that you , and me too, are grateful for what we have. Regardless of where we have been, because it wouldn't take much for anyone with a home to lose it in today's world.

Sometimes we do just feel a need to vent. Remember your emotions are still all over the place. You were given a very visual reminder of what you do have so that is a blessing too.

@GardenGerty Yeah and I did need to vent earlier. I am feeling better now though since we are no longer homeless like we once were.

It's natural to feel disappointment, you're only human - but I am glad you're grateful of what you do have, and I am glad you still had a good day. :)

@tammys85 Yeah and yesterday was important to me. But it made me realize when seeing him that less than a year ago we were there-we were homeless with children and I thank God were not there any longer!

@jstory07 Yeah I remember when we were homeless, less than a year ago. It brought me back to that and made me remember what I have to be grateful for.

I am glad you were able to still have a nice time. We all tend to forget what we have when looking foward to things we want.

It must be so hard to be homeless and addicted. How do these people ever get out of the mess they've found themselves in? I guess many never do.

@JudyEv Yeah I am sure it is. We were homeless a couple times in our life and I am so grateful we are no longer there. I don't think he will get out of the mess he's in and its really sad.

Yes, we are grateful for what we have. So many others have nothing. But it does not take away from your disappointment in suddenly having to cancel your plans.

If you continue to experience humility like this, your life will be much easier.
