I walked out the house this morning with my back pack full of stuff, included my food for today. Then, I went to the supermarket to buy somethings I needed. I paid for the groceries and went out of the store, When I had passed out the main entrance, I spotted a little dog chained to a post. I approached the dog, wanting to pass my hand over its head. My hand had almost reached its head, when the dog threw me a bite. Fortunately, I was able to pull my hand back. The dog kept barking at me. Moral; Never approach dogs that you don´t know. Even though, they may seem docile, some dogs may not!

Here in Cancun dogs are lose every where and it scares me. I never know when to trust them most dogs are nice but some want to jump on you. I don't know whether or not they will bite.

Yes, Some dogs are more docile than others. I´ve had dogs before as pets. None of them have ever been vicious dogs. My cousin had a dog that bite two people in the past. They kept the dog locked most of the times. That could be the reason. Do you live in Cancun?

@quantum2020 I guess dogs need the opportunity and the time to become docile. Yes I do.

@mylovelenix They tend to follow their owner´s lifestyle; however, when they´re kept in isolation and given bad treatment, they may act ferocious!

Yeah, it´s good thing that I back off my hand on time. I don´t imagine what I would have done without my right hand being able to type on the keyboard.

Never approach a dog and try to attempt to pet it without it's owner. And when you do even with it's owner, it should be palms down. To dogs such act is an attack, but if it's palms down and the owner is there, they don't consider it as an attack.

I learnt that lesson a long time ago - I bent down to talk to a strange dog and he bit me on the face!

Ahhh! That hurts! I was lucky, this dog threw me the bite before reaching it more. That can happen when one is curious about dogs.

Yeah, some dogs can be dangerous, especially when you meet them for the first time.
