Last night, I could not sleep. I finally got up and stayed up. Tonight, I fell asleep around 5:30 pm. I woke up at 8:30. I thought it was morning. I thought I slept all night, stinky in my clothes. My son was downstairs getting ready for work. I finally had to ask why he was home. I was so disoriented. Did you ever have a weird episode where you did not know what time it was or if it was morning or night?

If I was so exhausted, I have the moment of being disoriented once woke up. I think we have this kind of sleeping disturbance if we are experiencing stress in our lives.

Stress could be the reason. Plus overtiredness from not sleeping last night.

It very seldom happens to me. Last time, it was when I was coming out of anesthesia.

I have had this disorientation before, but it is very rare. Usually after those nights when I have a hard time sleeping, and then I fall asleep at around 3:00 a.m., I wake up, think it's 6:00, and it turns out to be noon already! Say! Sometimes I set my alarm even on weekends to try and prevent that! But sometimes I wake up and I'm just too tired; I wish I could sleep better at night; I wish I could turn off my brain's creative side just for the night!

My mind won't shut off. That does not make for good sleep.

Yes, I too have experienced the same thing. Probably because the whole body and mind were tired due to some activity, until finally could not withstand the severe drowsiness.

Yes, many times; I have experienced that too. Once, I was at a cousinĀ“s house and took a nap during the day. When I woke up, I looked around trying to locate the things that are familiar to me at my own home. Seconds later, I realized I was at my cousinĀ“s home.

@akalinus Yeah, tiredness plus other physical deficiencies can place one in a state of limited awareness, especially when one has not been getting enough rest.

I was extremely tired and that might have added to my confusion. Waking up in an unfamiliar place does not help much, either.

Yes, but that was mainly when I was a child. I had episodes like that a lot back then.

Oh yeah! I used have that a lot in my childhood! I used to get so confused so as to not know what time of day it was, or even if it was day, or night! Haven't had that kind of sleep for long.
