Do You Go Shopping When You Are Sad?

People have different types of personalities in dealing with sadness. For some people, they deal with their sadness by shopping especially if feeling depressed. It gives them the freedom to make a choice to buy or not to buy tangible things. Thus, they control their lives to choose for themselves. Others get pleasure from buying something, it is a way for them to deal with the unpleasant experiences. In some occasions, my close friends used to invite to go on shopping and claiming they need to forget something. It is a part of entertaining themselves to forget the stressors come into their lives.Do you think it is best way to deal with our being sad?

@toniganzon I also do the same thing. It is fun to eat a lot and put myself on shopping.

Retail therapy doesn't work for me. If I'm frustrated I hit the gym and train hard.

Ah sometimes! I shop all the time though but when I'm not feeling the greatest shopping makes me happy!

@infatuatedbby I also like shopping. It is a part of rewarding oneself of accomplishing something.

When I'm sad, I don't want to be around people. Shopping for me, is definitely NOT going to happen.

Others would do the more mature and practical thing of moving on from whatever it is that made them sad. As they say "there's no use crying over spilled milk".

No because most of the time, I feel sad when I don't have money. So, it would not make sense if I go shopping when sad

I don't think it is right or wrong, I think it just works for some people and not for others. I never enjoy shopping so this is not something that I do. But when I am sad I pray, write and sing-all of those help me.

@LovingMyBabies Whenever there is no one available to hear my sentiments, I also pray and ask God to pass through the challenges in my life.

Never. I hate shopping. I've never seen it as a recreational activity. I think one who shops to feel better might wind up even sadder when they see what they have spent and the bills come due.

i never shop just to feel better. i shop when something essential is needed. However most of the time my shopping is online.
