People have different types of personalities in dealing with sadness. For some people, they deal with their sadness by shopping especially if feeling depressed. It gives them the freedom to make a choice to buy or not to buy tangible things. Thus, they control their lives to choose for themselves. Others get pleasure from buying something, it is a way for them to deal with the unpleasant experiences. In some occasions, my close friends used to invite to go on shopping and claiming they need to forget something. It is a part of entertaining themselves to forget the stressors come into their lives.Do you think it is best way to deal with our being sad? @toniganzon I also do the same thing. It is fun to eat a lot and put myself on shopping.

Retail therapy doesn't work for me. If I'm frustrated I hit the gym and train hard.

You are lucky. Someone is doing it for you. In some occasion, I usually ask my sister to buy something for me.

@MALUSE I agree. Some people do. I guess they just wanted to brush off into their minds the source of being sad.

@TheHorse That's nice. Taking time to pour out all the sentiments while listening to sad music. I also do the same thing and listen carefully in the lyrics of the songs.

For me it's more about how sad I am that I have no money to go shopping with!

I do enjoy buying my children things but no I do not go shopping when I am sad. I really hate shopping. When I am sad I just tend to lay around and mope.

But for me shopping gives me more headach, thinking about bills... ha ha.. So listining music or playing guitar or going on a long ride is my way of changing my mood.

Others would do the more mature and practical thing of moving on from whatever it is that made them sad. As they say "there's no use crying over spilled milk".

No because most of the time, I feel sad when I don't have money. So, it would not make sense if I go shopping when sad

When I feel sad, I just want to be alone. I don't want to go out and especially go shopping. I will lose my appetite and I don't want to eat much, too. This is my behaviors when I am feeling sad.

I guess we can spend alone in the room and think it over. That's a good rationale for dealing with our sadness in life.

I don't think it is right or wrong, I think it just works for some people and not for others. I never enjoy shopping so this is not something that I do. But when I am sad I pray, write and sing-all of those help me.

@LovingMyBabies Whenever there is no one available to hear my sentiments, I also pray and ask God to pass through the challenges in my life.

Never. I hate shopping. I've never seen it as a recreational activity. I think one who shops to feel better might wind up even sadder when they see what they have spent and the bills come due.

@bagarad I agree. If you do shopping, it doesn't solve the issues or concerns. It remains unsolved and the spending of money adds up.

You should never go shopping when you are sad.You spend too much money and use your credit card. Shopping is supposed to be a happy one.

@amadeo I guess we just face the main root of sadness and take time to find resolution. We don't need to overspend in shopping since the problem will always there if no actions done to resolve it.

@manohar That's great! You spend money in shopping by being practical in life. I do prefer shopping in the malls than online. It is also therapy for me. I wouldn't buy that much but window shopping is also a great thing to kill the time.
