Scary movies and me are an interesting thing. I have a love/hate relationship with them.
I enjoy watching them if they have a good storyline and backstory but generally speaking I do not like scary movies. This is confusing really because I've seen so many of them!
I've seen Evil Dead, the Scream series, Nightmare on Elm Street, Cabin in the Woods, etc. I can really go on and on about the ones I've seen... some popular, some not so much, but there are "rules" on how I can watch them.
One of my rules when it comes to scary movies is that I can never watch them alone! If I do I won't be sleeping that night!
Do you like scary movies? Do you have a favorite? Do you ever watch them alone?

@Lolaze Yes! I just commented about that movie to someone else. That movie stuck with me for the longest and made me avoid TV screens for awhile. The worst part is that right now as I type this there's a mirror in my bedroom that reminds me of the oval mirror from that movie! It's an antique so I'm not allowed to take it off the wall since I'm living with my parents at the moment, but usually at night time I am not too fond of looking at it.

The motion pictures like The Creature From The Black Lagoon are my favorites as well as The Fly that starred the late Vincent Price.

Vincent Price is one of the all time greats. Check out Dr. Phibes.

I am fond of scary movies since childhood. I am lucky that I never had a nightmare during my childhood years. There is no particular favorites of movies. I just love all types of horror films and it really entertains me. I do watch alone and all the excitements are there.

@Bellatricks Exactly, horror monsters don't do much for me, it's the movies that do play with my mind that scare me.

I love scary movies and my boyfriend does not. Whenever I want to watch one I have to watch it alone.

Not the gore as you know, I think it was you who I made a response on movies. I'll respond anyway. I like the psychological scary, the best I've seen is a classic movie called The Bad Seed. I also liked the original Psycho and the remake with Vince Vaughn.

My son is into horror movies. I watch horror movies with my eyes closed. So I can't tell you which is favorite cause I never see them! All I hear is the screams!
Told myself I wasn't going to torture myself by watching scary movies. But to think about it, not sure if it qualifies, when "The Exorcist" came out in 1973, had to go see it because everybody was talking about it. Even though people told me it was scary. It made my list for one of the scariest movies I had seen at that time. But the theme music from that movie made it all worth it!
Love those tubular bells!

@Bellatricks - When I look back on it now, I realize being scared was just plain silly. Fake green vomit don't scare nobody! That's probably why the sequels weren't all that good and didn't have any impact on my psyche. They couldn't even make the films good, and they had top notch actors like Max Von Sydow and Richard Burton. You can't get much better than these guys and even with their high caliber acting skills, they couldn't save those follow-up films. The sequels were disastrous.

Oh I have a funny story about that movie. I watched it on prom night? I think... There was a group of us that ended up watching it and for some reason it was the funniest movie and we were all laughing at it the whole time because of the crazy things the "girl" was saying. I know that's considered to be one of the most scariest movies out there but because of the group that I was with it ended up being so funny!

That's easy. The Birds by Alfred Hitchcock. Scared the everloving daylights out of me, and there's not a drop of blood in it anywhere. I don't like modern horror movies because they're too reliant on blood and gore instead of a good story. And, as that Geico commercial pointed out, the plots are just too predictable.

I usually don't watch scary movies, but Schizo (1976) was an exception, mostly because it starred British people, and I was introduced to the lovely and talented British actress Lynne Frederick. But let's not lie; the whole reason I watched that movie is because, according to the Soundtracks page for the movie on IMDB, it has the song "Harvey" by Midas Touch in it, and sure enough, right there in the wedding scene, there's Midas Touch! I usually prefer it when scary meets comedy, like the 2000 movie Scary Movie or the 2006 Scary Movie IV; I've heard good things about the two movies in between but never saw it. If I ever see another scary movie it will likely be Video Screams.

I love comedy scary movies! I think that's part of the reason why I was able to enjoy some scary movies because once I was able to laugh at them it eased my mind. I remember seeing The Ring and was just so scared of TVs for the longest time after but then when I saw the scene from Scary Movie making fun of The Ring I was finally not scared of TVs anymore!
