I was raised around Nature and doing my own Gardening and such, so i thought..Why not get me some chicks and get fresh eggs? They are pictured here at 1 week old but are now 5 weeks. I haven't been here much in myLot because taking care of them i like taking care of 6 babies except none of my kids ever pecked at me for picking them up or flew around, or lived in a box..hahah Hope none of you thought i was going to show off 6 humans!...sorry to disapoint you..hahah.

@Rosekitty yes but because your avatar is that of a girl it would be a bit weird if you refer to girls like you as chicks. But if your avatar was a man, i would probably have a naughty thinking that 'chicks' were girls!

@Rosekitty adorable chicks. At one time my hubby and I discussed getting chicks and raising them for eggs but we soon realized that it would just be taking on too much extra work.

Awww, how adorable!!! Well you've certainly been busy with the babies! We've been busy with over 25 babies too - but they are silkworms - and they don't require a whole lot of work like chickies would. Do you have names for them all? Do they like brownies?

@Rosekitty Stinky - ha ha! Maybe one could be named Brownie then. We hope to get silkworm eggs and put them in the fridge for next Spring. Wish I knew a way to send you these eggs - though of course you can't use them like chicken eggs!

Aww, they so cute. My son has chickens, and it is my grandson's job to take care of them. He doesn't mind it though, as where he goes to school, there are75 chickens. He has to feed and water them e erg day, and gathered the eggs.

If you had not mentioned "my 6 chicks" it would have been a very different reply here I loved these pics when I saw them on the other site. What are your plans now? I read on your response to @marcyaz that you will soon have colorful eggs... darn you are going to get richer

@Rosekitty I can't resist but sing to you as it is on my mind. Chick, chick, chick, chick, chicken, Lay a little egg for me, Chick, chick, chick, chick, chicken, I want one for my tea. I haven't had an egg since Easter, And now it's half past 3, So, chick, chick, chick, chick, chicken, Lay a little egg for me. I think the words are correct, but who cares? If that doesn't make you want to stay (or never come back!) nothing will.

My boyfriend brought home the baby chicks from our organic garden when we closed it down. We raised them in several cages that we had for our rabbits. We built new rabbit cages and moved the chicks into the older cages. However, when they all grew up they weren't hens, but roosters. We finally let them loose in our river bed so they could mate with a few of the wild chicken in the river. We feed them daily, but we decided against having 10 roosters crowing in our yard all day and night. That was a little much for us to handle.

Apparently, they are not yet ready to lay eggs. I think that breeding hens is forbidden in my city, and it is a good thing : I am awaken by pupils going to school at 7 1/2 am, I would not appreciate to hear roosters at sunrise. By the way, are you sure that you are not breeding 6 roosters?
