Baking Tonight

I found a recipe the other day for a blueberry cheesecake galette. I thought it sounded wonderful so I picked up the ingredients at the grocery story. Unfortunately blueberries were so expensive that I decided to change the recipe and use strawberries.
I also didn't have cornstarch so substituted flour. I am very happy with how the galette came out. It is quite delicious and we both enjoyed a piece of it as our evening snack.
I called our grandson Alex who is my sweet taste tester. He was at a bonfire tonight but he thought it sounded awesome so I am wrapping up a piece for him and leaving it in the fridge so he can pick it up tomorrow while we are out.
This reminded me how much I really do enjoy baking.

Wow, looks scrumptious! I have to get my bake on this weekend. Hubby is away tonight. I will probably bake before he gets home tomorrow. Maybe a cake, maybe cookies. Will depend on my mood.

I just got back from having pizza with friends. I'm so stuffed right now, that I can't even think of dessert. It looks great, and I am positive that Alex will give it the seal of approval. I'm famous for my New York cheesecake and pear and pistachio tarte.

The flavorings were lemon and nutmeg though so I was concerned that they are better with blueberries but it does taste good, next time I might add rhubarb!!

Looks wonderful- I love a galette becasue there's not tons of pastry- and this one looks so good! Blueberries are expensive here too- I was going to buy some but the special that was $3.99 for organic ones is off and now they were either 6.99 or 5.99 so forget it. I would, however, spend that much once or twice when the wild ones come out- because it's a fleeting treat. Glad you enjoyed your treat!

@BelleStarr I now have a hankering for a piece of fruit pie- LOL! My fave is blueberry or peach- let us know how the blueberry tasted- and also where was the cornstarch supposed to go? Mixed with the fruit I guess.

@MarymargII Yes it was to be mixed with the fruit to thicken it.

If you made a nut crust, it is made with cornstarch inside instead of flour so you could make it.

That does sound rather delicious what went wring?. I am a pretty good baker and I know how to substitute but I do occasionally miscalculate. I wasn't sure that strawberries had the same liquid as blueberries so I added a little more flour.
