Every April 30, we celebrate our mother's birthday though she departed five years ago.
I see to it that I post her favorite photo on facebook on this day and say something about it. We always say a prayer for the departed as my family members gather together for this special day. We love our mother so much, and we pay respects by bonding together and share some simple food.
How about you, do you also get together on such special days?

It is indeed so sad; more so if you had wished you had let them feel how you loved them, but it's too late.So sorry for you loss.

It is a way of showing how we love and cherish their memory. It's a nice tradition.

We do it too as long as our time permits. So in the morning, me and my husband visited her grave, lit a candle and put some flowers that I plucked from my garden. Had the chance visit the graves of my other departed siblings too.

We do that as a way of keeping us closer though most of us are living far apart.

Thanks, @jndlponti , yes, she could had lived more years, I guess, because she did not have any health-related problems; it just happened that she slipped on the pavement outside my sister's house and she suffered a broken pelvic bone. From that time on she was bedridden although she had some bone replacement operation.

My mom finds it hard to do that, she will remember her brothers birthday, but we do not celebrate it . We do not celebrate anyone who had departed in our family.

Well it depends on the family tradition. We just do it for some bonding moments and for those who wanted to be there for the get together thing. It is not compulsory for everyone to attend.

Rarely. I live far from my parents, same is true with my siblings. There are times that we are complete though.

I envy when I see people like that who have reached that age and yet they are still strong! It made me think of my mother too.
