My son wants new books

Ian's love for knowledge has developed because my mom and I used to buy him educational books. From National Geographic Kid's Almanac to Kid's World Atlas to The Human Body, basically anything that will make him sit at home reading to pass the time. He doesn't care much for story books, though. Right now, our budget is very tight and we can't afford any new books for now. He does have time to use the computer but more often than not, he uses up his time playing video games or watching DIY videos. It can get really annoying when he starts complaining that he doesn't have anything to do. His hobbies are limited to crafting paper stuff and reading. I got rid of the television long ago because I don't like that he spends the rest of his time watching TV after using my computer. This is also part of why he's able to retain himself in the honor roll. I hope that I will earn enough soon so that I can buy him new books again.

I think you need to look for some places online where people are giving away books, maybe they would send them to you.

Kindle can be one good option in such case. there are plenty of good books on kindle. You can also use kindle app on android and iphone for this.

Actually yes. The nearest second-hand book store has a lot but mostly are story books and outdated ones.

Why don't you go to the library, they have plenty of good books there.

Believe me, if we have a library in the area, he'd be there all day long and I'm not going to stop him.

Try to buy him a tablet and he can download the books for free (pirate) or a smartphone. I've been using my smartphone to watch videos or read books for the past few years.

He'll be getting a tablet from his uncle soon so downloads would definitely be good too. Thanks!

It is really hard when we cant give our child what they need. There are lots e books he can download or you can simply borrow books from a friend or a relatives. And yep, city library are a small town library are still open this days.
