Has anyone tried or is a vegan or vegetarian. I have been watching a lot of documentaries on the subject. Its always sad to see how they treat the animals. And to think that I'm a part of the reason that they die. To think about how they diet and how I eat all the parts of them makes me alittle sick. I have been eating meat since I was born, so even though it makes me sick. I feel as though I'm still a bit addicted to it. if that makes any sense. Chicken wings, barbeque chicken, etc. How did you become vegan or vegetarian, Was it hard? Any benefits?

@angtobeheard I'm on my way to veganism,, but I'm not doing it stone cold - that's too much. I still eat dairy though I'm finding it getting a bit easier to cut out milk. I really dont miss meat - cheese is my downfall. Made myself a magnificenr lentil dish to night that was simple and tasty.

Was it hard for you growing up as a vegetarian child? I have a 6 year old son. While it may have been easier for you since you never had it, I'm wondering how my son will adapt. Any good recipe apps for vegetarians?

@angtobeheard We have vegan and vegetarian young ones in our circle. How could it be hard if you have been raised in this manner?

I´m not totally vegetarian, but flexitarian, due that I still eat other food products that are not totally vegetables and fruit. When you start into vegetarianism, you feel the change in your system, as you begin to lose body mass. Lots of hunger at first; over time, your system adapts to the new food, but still you are not gaining weight.
From here you need to ingest, the best sources of protein, such as fish and chicken. There are other sources of protein; however, they are from vegetable source, including soy meat and spinaches.
It would take more than a year to become a vegetarian; for some more and for others less than this.

Our family is vegan vegetarian. No one needs or uses animal flesh here and some have been decades without animal products-everyone is healthy. Maybe you are 'addicted' to the seasonings?

I've gained a lot of benefits but I took about 2 months to gather proper information, recipes, and transition. I don't think it was to hard, except for dairy. That was only in the beginning though until I found AMAZING alternatives. I've been fully vegan for 2 and a half months. What I've gained is more confindence, clearer skin, stomach pains went away, energy, better understanding of life and myself, and more compassion and empathy for people and animals :) I also have been getting involved with activist work as well which is also rewarding in itself.

I am an actual vegan. First, don't put all the blame on yourself. Anybody who is not vegan also contributes to the killing of animals. I believe the stubborn people that just will not give up meat no matter what evidence is presented about how it effects your body, the environment, and of course the animals are addicted. There is just no "winning an argument with them. It honestly wasn't hard after I educated myself more, made the commitment to myself, and came to and understanding about what it meant to and for me. As for the benefits, are you asking the benefits of going vegan?

Yes I'm asking, what are some things you noticed about yourself since not eating meat? How long have you been vegan?

Yes, most find animal products addictive. The addiction is chemical + hormonal & is extremely difficult to break long-term. Once you do it long-term, nothing will make you go back & the positive changes are very noticeable every day & you become better & greater every day. And of course you need to educate yourself more & more as time goes on.
How are you going with it?
My story has been all over MyLot for years now, so I won't bore you with it. I went at it hard & fast from an early age as a straight-edge vegan for the purpose of benign spiritual practice (meditation). I quickly progressed from vegetarian-ish to vegan to raw vegan to fruitarian... which is where I'm currently at. Given favourable living conditions & the power of finance, I'd go breathairean.
