Have You Ever Confused Yourself?

Please make me feel better by telling me I am not the only one who has ever done this.
So, let's say you are going to the grocery store and you have some items to buy. You are making a list but you don't want to write it down...just in case you should accidentally drop your shopping list and someone could perhaps see what you had written and you die of embarrassment or maybe somebody might be peering over your shoulder. Anyway, you get the idea!
What you do is, write it down in code, in something you will only know what it means.
The only problem is--you forget the code!
Then you are standing in the grocery store like, what the heck was I talking about? What did I even mean here...LOL!!
Of course, you go home without what it was you were needing. Then, right as you are drifting off to sleep for the night, you remember what it was!

Well, I have never done that but believe me, I've done similar and worse things so don't feel bad. I think we all have our awkward and forgetful moments!

I've sort of done this. I like to get dried mango at Trader Joe's. But for some reason, I sometimes forget that the little orange dried fruit I like so much is mango. The word "mango" just escapes me. So I'll just write down "kiwi" as an inside joke with myself. But I usually remember that "kiwi" means "mango" once I get there.

I used to abbreviate and make up odd shorthand when I took notes in college. What happened when it came time to study? You guessed it. I often had no idea what I'd written.
Sleep deprivation was partly to blame. Haha.

I'm sorry, but I have never been embarrassed by anything on my shopping list nor cared if someone is looking at it over my shoulder. I don't know why that would be any more embarrassing than someone looking in you shopping cart and seeing what you have. I will admit I've gone to the store to pick up a few thing and figured it wasn't enough to make a list. I'll get everything except one. Then I'll walk around the store looking like a goofball hoping I'll see what that one item was. Sometimes I figure it out, other times I just go home and as I pull into the driveway I'll remember.
