What is your favorite song?

My favourite song is Open Arms by Mariah Carey. I remember when I was in grade school, slam books are common. You have to answer all the questions listed. And everytime I see the row "What is your favourite song?", I feel small cuz I'm not a fan of music before. So one time, I saw my cousin's girlfriend answering a slam book. And looked at what she wrote at "What is your favourite song?" row, and that was Open Arms by Mariah Carey. Yes. To be honest I just copied that fave song before. And since I have to act smart, I need to know the lyrics, the song itself and how I can play it on my organ and flute. As I study the song, I started to feel inlove with the song. Or maybe cuz of thorough study I finally love it and really like it til now. And ofcourse my favourite singer is mariah carey. ha ha ha Funny history. I just remember cuz it's playing now on my background music. How bout you? What is your favorite song and what is the story behind?

I have many favourites I guess but the one that stands among them all is the song by Yeng Constantino entitled "Chinito." I can relate on it much because I really like guys who have chinky eyes and I will always sing it to my boyfriend whenever we have Skype Dates. One day, while we were video chatting and he noticed that I was busy on something he asked me for something. I was surprised when he started to sing the first line of Chinito. It was funny because he sang it in twisted Tagalog. I was really surprised and it was really mushy because it was like he was serenading me online. He told me he memorized the Tagalog song because it seems that I like the song very much. In fact, he also made it as his ring tone.

@zaga_cleuth Yes, that one with Enchong Dee. He also sang that song in front of my friends during the celebration of my graduation in our house. My friends thought it was too cute for he is not a Filipino yet he can sing a Tagalog song. I believe you can find the real man of your life. Pray for it and believe that you will meet him in God's perfect timing.

I never heard of summertime sadness. I will play that later or tomorrow. Is there any story behind that?

@zaga_cleuth I heard it playing at KFC for the first time.Amidst all the hustle bustle this song caught my attention. I felt like I had heard it before as I was almost able to recollect it's lyrics even though I never heard it before. It felt strangely comforting to me. I fell in love with the song as well as the singer. There is something about her voice which transports you to medieval period and you get gothic vibes from them. Tell me how did you like it when/if you hear it.

@Blue_bubble I just heard it today. And until now it is playing. I feel a melancholy feeling. It is full of emotions. And it struck my heart.

My favorite song is "Dark as a Dungeon" by Merle Travis. I think it's an exceptionally well-written song about the horrors of being a coal miner. I was born and raised in Kentucky, a large coal mining state; and, in fact, at one time I lived not too far from where Travis was born in western Kentucky. It's always hit me squarely between the eyes. I also appreciate that Travis eschewed his brilliant guitar playing to put the focus on the lyrics.

@zaga_cleuth -- the original recording was 1947, on Folk Songs Of the Hills. I agree his voice was superb. He did bass singing in the Browns Ferry Four as well as all those great songs on his own. Plus, there's style of guitar playing named after him.

Also the copying the slambook answers. That's pretty common I guess. But still it's a funny memory. I used to be very disappointed when I was one of the intial one's to fill up the slam as I had nothing as refrence! Hahaha

True. That's why whenever I'm asked to sign a slam book and found out that I'm the first, I answered them I'm busy. Ask someone else first. haha
