Hey there everyone! I haven't been posting here much at all in recent months. But i thought this one deserved to be posted on more than just Facebook. My son, Noah, had his Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy operation done yesterday. We are now resting in the hospital for a couple days. From there he will start about 2 weeks of intense inpatient therapy. Long story short: Noah has Cerebral Palsy and his legs are very tight because of it. The doctors opened up his spine and cut some of the nerves leading to his muscles that were sending the wrong signals. We have a long road ahead of us, but with any luck he will be much better off after having the surgery. Just wanted to update anyone who was following our story.

Thank you, it's going to be rough, especially the first couple days but he's a trooper.

Thank you. The neurosurgeon that preformed the surgery said he has high hopes for his outcome. He's done scores of these surgeries and said that Noah was basically the perfect candidate for a good outcome. It all comes down to his therapy from here on out.

@bobo2500 Tough road inded. My daughter had extensive cardiac surgery at 11 weeks ( linked to Down Syndrome). Bounced right back. Hope Noah gets lots of benefit from his surgery.

@xFiacre I can't even imagine a cardiac surgery. While this procedure was terrifying, it is NOTHING compared to something in the heart, brain, etc. You certainly have my respect just for living through something like that. Let alone any other difficulties that arise while raising a special needs child.

Oh the poor little guy has to deal with the surgery and Cerebral Palsy and then the therapy. My prayers go out to this little fellow and hope everything turns out okay. Please let us know how Noah is doing.

Thank you, He's a trooper and he will do great, i'm sure of it. I just feel bad watching him struggle with everything that comes so easy to most. I have been posting updates on a facebook page made for him called "Go Noah Go" if you're on there that would be the easiest way to follow along. But i will try harder to post more about his story on here as well.

Thank you, he's still having a slow recovery at the moment, but it was a pretty big operation.

That is wonderful news, they have so made so many medical advances, its good to hear that it will help your little one. Good luck as he goes into the therapy part of the after-surgery.

Thank you! The therapy is really the biggest part of this operation. He'll basically be learning to walk all over again. But the doctors and therapists at The University of Michigan Hospital are amazing, i have no doubt he will do great with their help.

I have mild cerebral palsy and my legs used to get very tight. Now that I do excerises, my legs don't get tight much anymore.
