I have a friend. He was catholic and for his girlfriend's family to accept him he willingly had himself converted to Islam.. Such extreme right? But it was actually just some dare the girl's family thought he won't do. But to their surprise he did it. Have you or do you know anyone who did the same thing?

It always depends on the situation. As for my friend he really love his girlfriend and that's what he thought can help her family accept him. Too bad it wasnt enough..

@Lucky15 I guess, we can say that people will change about anything if they really love a person

Yes, I know people who've done this. If you love somebody, you should be willing to consider such things.

@slayer08 I think what you describe - somebody 'daring' the guy to change - is really inappropriate but if people really see a religious difference as a bar to marriage, then one or other has to convert.

Some of my friends did that. For sure, I will not do that. I am fine if my partner is having different religious belief from me, and I believe we can live harmonious together, though some told me it's hard. Glad that my husband and I have similar religious belief.

Having the same religious belief is important because you never know when it becomes the issue.

It depends on the person. Sometimes when they love someone they also get carried away and believes in what their love one's beliefs and sometimes they just go with the flow just to be with their special someone. This is just my opinion

@slayer08 I don't think love has anything to do with religion.

@else34 actually as much as wed like to think theres none, there are some conventional religions who care too much about religion. And although it may not be a factor to the couple of may be to their families.

Me? Definitely no. I could not even embrace and practice my own religion, how much more other's? I have friends who did the same before they got married.

I agree with you.. Some people really are brave enough to make the shift just to be accepted.

I would not change my religion to be with someone else. To do that would mean I am denouncing my religion. I could never do that.

I think it is not the basis. I think religion is different for loving someone.
