Do you like being invisible?

Now that I use the internet such a lot, I have realised that I like this invisibility! Not just here on MyLot, but in everyday life; I deal with clients and sub-contractors by email and most of them never know what I look like. I listen to the radio a lot and get to know presenters and public personalities through their voices, and then if I suddenly see a picture of that person on the web or in a magazine I often find they look different to the way I imagined them, and sometimes I can't help but be influenced by the way they look even though I don't want to be. I find I prefer to judge people by their words and actions rather than their looks; what about you?

I often wonder how I would cope if the internet didn't exist. Anonymity and invisibility are fabulous, and I get to be who I really am online without having to stumble over my words or worry about how I look.

It's certainly changed our lives in lots of ways hasn't it?

I much prefer knowing and being known in text. And text offers a backspace, so you can easily catch your breath and avoid saying things you shouldn't. That's much harder face-to-face.

I feel you. I'm more comfortable talking to people without looking their face so i don't have to judge them according to their physical appearance. Sometimes, how they talk can actually be totally different on how they are in person.

It is nice to be invisible. You can determine the personality of the people through their writings.

I do enjoy online anonymity. Is that a camellia?

It's a rose, Gertrude Jekyll from David Austin roses. Isn't it gorgeous? And it has the real 'Turkish delight' scent, I think it's my favourite.

@Fleura Lovely rose. I like being on one side of the screen while others are on the other side. However my pictures are well know but still that does not mean anyone has ever met me in person. I'm an introvert so I like it this way and I can still say I have a lot of friends.

Sometimes it is nice if you do not want to attract attention or simply if you want to be left alone.

I agree, I think we are all influenced but looks even though we don't want to be, I would rather not know what a person looks like.

I do like the anonymity online. However, to really get to know and judge someone, you have to look them in the eyes.

Me too, I like this way of doing things. I like slobbing around till mid morning, then go for a shower and take a look at the world

Me too, I find it better when I don't have to see their faces. It's like this should which can protect me from spittle. Hehe kidding.

I would not try to judge anybody at all. But there are impressions, and for me they are based solely on how that person behaves with me. If he is good to me, I will definitely like him.

Sometimes I wished I have not posted my real face online to be invisible. It is too late for that now. I think when I write a book, I will use a pseudonym and wait for the reaction of the readers if I will ever tell my real name.

I always thought I would do that too. So far though the problem hasn't arisen because I haven't had that great idea or a novel yet!
