American Painted Lady Butterflies

Between the rain showers and storms we have been having, I try to go for a walk when I can. On this day, I walked to the front part of our property where we have not cut the grass in the field yet. There were lots of wild flowers growing and butterflies were feasting! These two little beauties are American Painted Ladies. They are very common here in southern Oklahoma. They seemed to stay together where ever they went. They were very busy, going from flower to flower, but they did stay still long enough for me to get a picture or two. What kind of butterflies do you have in your area?

Every year I notice less butterflies in my garden. We have many different butterflies in Switzerland, most common are the "Swiss blue" and the Boloria titania.

Thank you, @JohnRoberts Monarchs are only occasional around here too. Their numbers have greatly declined over the years.

I enjoy identifying the different types of butterflies. Mainly I just love watching them as they "flit" around.

They are not very big, @boiboing I would say their wing span is about 2 inches across. They are not as big as a swallowtail or Monarch butterfly.

I am not good in determining of what type of butterflies. I like seeing butterflies used in modern weddings. The butterflies appear to be so big.

I saw these on a website the other day when I was looking up Monarch butterflies. How nice they sat a while for you.
