What is your best kind of church service?

For me, it is one where people believe in miracles, lift their hand in worship, and I like the praises to ring out. If people dance, the gifts of the spirit are in operation and the preacher is not the only one doing something, then I am happy. I hate the kind of service where you are not free to be expressive, sit in a pew and sing hymns from a hymn book and don't dare to sing loudly. Evangelical, Pentecostal are fine as long as the service is real and full of fellow believers even if there are only two or three present. If you go to church What about you?

I understand what you are saying, however, I think that comes down preference-I find the liturgy not restrictive in the least, nor singing hymns from a book (a book or on a print screen to me, makes little difference, and a person can worship with a hymn book just the same), but rather giving order. There are set things we pray for and about in a service, and set elements which must be present, and that doesn't change-my concern over charismatic churches, is these elements seem to be lacking, and at times...flow on whim. For me the liturgy is devotion and an act of love-what is important is a person's sincerity, not so much the external form. Above this, is the reading and teaching of Scripture. Without that, it is too easy to forget that the purpose of a church service is worship and instruction in His word...it's about God, not us. Some say church is boring, but worship isn't about us. That said, I would not judge another's devotion to Christ, or how they express their devotion to Him, as St. Paul says "who are you to judge another's servant?"

I think it very important to engage people in the Word. I wasn't saying what you say is wrong. Even Pentecosals have an order of service.

I feel like the church which I'm attending is perfect! Evangelistic but knowing where to draw the line, a large congregation but yet feeling so family-like, prayerful, genuine (where even leaders are humble enough to share their pasts and admit their mistakes), and very anchored in the word of God :)

I love it when the homily is touching and all the people participate in singing the worship songs and the mass is solemn with no children shouting or crying .

I cannot say that I go to Church, but I would also prefer a Church where people are free to be expressive, dance and are happy.

I'm a bit curious about what gifts of the spirit you think would be in operation if people were dancing? Corinthians talks about gifts, manifestations and related things and many interchange the meanings of each. Currently I'm attending a church where we stand when singing our praises to God. We mainly utilize songs found on Christian radios, I think as I'm familiar with many of them for that reason. We are free to raise hands if inspired to do so and many do, and we are free to move around although most of us 'dance' in place. I am free to operate the manifestations of the spirit in my own home too, I don't need to wait until I attend church to do certain things. Course, many of them are to be used within a church service, and the particular church we're going to at present don't operate those particular manifestations. I sing loudly even though others may think I don't have the best voice, but that doesn't bother me. Some in the church, though, don't sing at all. I do believe in miracles too and the gifts of healing.

@jackalyn Has to be a place where the people really know each other and take to do with each other without living in each others pockets. Participation of everyone is important. Rather important is the presence of God.

I am not a church-goer, but if I were I would like a church where people were vibrant and happy, and definitely non - judgemental.
