Introducing myself

Ok as my screen name says, I am nobody special...just a female who has time on her hands, a willingness to share it with others, and a willingness and ability to seek out information for those who need it, not to mention it helps me learn more myself. For four years I was the assistant admin for a website dealing with methamphetamine addiction, as a result I know a great deal about the subject. I never used drugs myself other than those prescribed by my doctor...I have knowledge of the effects of this drug on not only the user but on those who care for them. As a result of doing my best to help these people, I also learned of many other things, such as mood disorders, personality disorders, how to manage weight gain and weight loss, and several other related subjects. I tell people that since a little knowledge is a dangerous thing, I must be a dangerous person, as it seems I have just a little knowledge about a lot of things. While I am not adverse to posting my opinion, I am more likely to provide information and back it with links or referrance materials when presented with a subject or a debate. I hope to find new subjects to seek out and share information on through these pages. Thank you for bothering to read this if you made it this far.

How helpful you are to those people. It probably is a drainning job. So where is it that you go to release stress and don't say the gym. Please, don't say the gym.

Sweet-pea, sorry I didn't get back to this sooner, been off line most the time the last few days. My apologies for not being more attentive. for releasing stress...hmmmm...I read, TV isn't really my 'thing' although I like documentaries, I do a little writing here and there, I have friends who let me vent when I need to...I do work out a bit, but not at a gym, LOL! I have a stationary bike, a Gazelle, a Tony Little product, light weights, but I do that more for my health than anything else...my chiropractor got on my case for not strengthening my back muscles as I have some damage, what a person gets for thinking they are indestructable when young...LOL! Actually I am peaceful when working and doing research...I like discovering new things and being able to present what I have discovered to others who may need that information. I am in the process of attempting to sell the family farm and plan to purchase and remodel houses with an eye to making a home not only affordable but attainable for those who do not meet conventional or other forms of financing. I figure I'll do the proverbial 'kill two birds with one stone' with this as I hope to provide employment for those who might otherwise finding any type of work difficult to obtain. Speaking of working out...I'd best get it done for today...getting lazy in my old age. LOL!

Welcome to myLot. I hope you will find it nice here. The site is certainly in need of some people that will contribute more than yes and no answers. I too am a female, age 41. I have seen a lot of different things throughout my life though. I have battled depression all my life. I also deal with weight loss problems, high cholesterol, and high blood presure. Anyhow, enough about me. I again welcome you and look forward to getting to know you.

Well...we're all special in our own way. ;0) That's a pretty cool profession. If a question is out there, and you have info on it, I think that's great!

I may not have an answer, but I surely will look for one! LOL! As for it being a profession, maybe more like a calling would better discribe it. Curiousity is my major fault and my biggest asset. And yes I guess everyone is special in their own way. I just would rather not allow others to consider me above or below them on the special scale. I am no better or worse than anyone else thus nobody special.

Depression is a condition that is real, very real and very damaging. It hurts. It hurts emotionally, mentally and physically, it hurts those around us also. Often medication can help, often but not always. Sometimes a change in location and circumstances are enough to make the difference, other times exercise can do it...exercising causes your body and brain to produce dopamine which can lessen depression, added benefit is the physical side, possible weight loss, muscle toning, increased lung capacity...etc. There are therapies that are applied to other conditions that can actually be very theraputic for those who suffer depression. Changing the moment is one that can lighten ones day a bit...by changing the moment one can do something as simple as having a bubble bath, or more complex like a shopping trip just for fun. Vitamins and amino acids can help one find their way out of depression...GABA is currently being tested as an alternative to antidepressants, Omega3 is another amino that can help. Sometimes it is hormones that cause one to suffer feelings of loss and loneliness...having too much of one hormone or too little of another. I have talked with therapists who subscribe to scream therapy...basically just finding yourself a place you can holler cry, pound rocks until you feel you have had enough. As each of us is different and our emotions reflect this difference, a mix and match for you would be a possible solution. Consult your doctor to see if perhaps medication would improve your situation, if medications don't work then seek therapies an try vitamins, amino acids and exercise. If all the above have failed you it may be you need to make a major change in your life, new town, new home, new job, new friends... We all have been, will be or are special to someone, we have all had an effect upon another for good in that person's life, either now, before or in the future. Change doesn't happen as fast as we'd like it to...we live in a 'right now' age, we forget that we also have to make an effort to affect that change, and right now is no time at all, because the now we want is already past. Consult a doctor, talk with a homeopathic physician add an exercise program to your life, maybe some aminos and vitamins and make some changes because I have little doubt you like so many others think later will be your turn...don't wait for later, start making changes now... One step at a time. One day at a time.
