My Field of Wildflowers

This picture is just a small part of the field at the front part of our property. The field is actually about 1 acre and is full of wildflowers. I should really say "was" full of wildflowers as hubby mowed the field day before yesterday.
Luckily, I had taken my camera for a walk, (My camera is a "she" and she loves to go for walks in the mornings) and took lots of pictures of the wildflowers and butterflies that morning.
I do like our place to look neat and tidy, so I don't really mind that he mowed down all the wildflowers, with all the rain we are supposed to have over the rest of the week, they will be back before I know it!

we're jest the opposite :) i prefer the wildflowers to neat'n tidy. i jest tended the task o'er this past week. carefully avoidin' the wildflowers'n blossom. the need to get down with clippers 'n trimmin' the grasses that'd ripe seeds from 'round 'em. they're my lil "nurseries" fer the good bugs, somethin' fer the bees to gather their pollen from. i leave the native grasses's well, they don't get more'n 8" tall anyhow :)

I love the natural look of the wildflowers, but they get really "shaggy" looking after a while and I can only take "shaggy" for a little while. I have more flower beds than I can keep up with, so there are plenty of flowers for the bees and the butterflies. Some of the native grass on our place can get 3-4 feet tall!

@sgbrown i kinda like the shaggy 'n unruliness :D back when the hubs got a wild hair (many years 'go, when't still rained'n these parts), he planted kentucky bluegrass out back. beautiful schtuff 'n i let't got to seed'n mature 'fore i'd get out there 'n turn a couple'f calves loose'n 't.
our weathers still bein' most unpredictable, with jest a few roses 'n honeysuckle bloomin' 't the moment. my horses'd really love yer place!

@crazyhorseladycx Yes, your horses would love it out here! Lots of good stuff for them to eat! Too bad you can't just ride em over!
According to the weatherman, starting today, it will everyday for a week! I enjoy a little shower from time to time, but now I may have to build an ark!

I love wildflowers. They were really common in Arizona but they only lasted maybe a month before they wilt away. I wouldn't let my mom mow them, especially the orange ones. Orange is my favorite color so that was a big no no. Haha!

Me too, @DesirousDreamer The first time that hubby mowed the field right in front of the house, I made him leave a big circle in the middle unmown. Even hubby's grown son mentioned that he liked it that way.
We usually have some type of wildflowers that bloom during each season, even when it is extremely hot.
