I never knew that these two sentences have difference. I got to know when a host asked the contestant if he loves his girl or is in love with her!! I got blank like they are same, why is she asking to confuse me!!
Then when I searched the web and asked a friend of mine from English honours, I understood what both meant!
"I love" is generalisation of affection or inclination towards be anything. Like I love my parents, I love smoking, I love dance, I love my friends, I love that kid. Here, you cannot be involved romantically.
Where as "I am in love" signifies love in romantic sense. Here you are in love with only one person..!! You can't be in love with dance, cigarettes, parents, yourself etc. You can't be involved with these stuffs romantically.
So guys, wait for someone who says that he/she is in love with you!!
Good morning folks!

I'm glad that you've learned the difference. I've never had any trouble understanding the difference, but I could see how it might be confusing to someone. I have only been in love a handful of times. I could count how many times on one hand.

Life would be a lot simpler if love didn't keep getting in the way.

yeah. Frequency of I love is higher. But I don't think people are obsessed with love. They are obsessed of having girlfriends. One of my friend can't live single and talks big tales of knowing what love is!
