Our green hills are now brown. How does late Spring look where you are?

In Northern California, Spring comes early. If there's been any Winter rain, the hills are a Ireland-like green in January, turning brown in April or May. This year, we had a fairly rainy Winter, and the hills were a lovely green through early May. But Summer brown has taken over, and the green hills are no more. How is Spring (or Fall, for our Southern Hemisphere friends) looking where you are?

We have not had a week without rain since last fall: yesterday was a sunny day, but today thunderstorms, tomorrow showers, showers again on Monday, cloudy on Tuesday, etc.
With this kind of weather, everything is green and the grass is fat. I would like to see here the blue sky on your picture

@TheHorse Why not ? But a day is not enough. I hope that in a year I will have a floor for friends in my house. It will be perfect for an exchange of homes during vacations, but I have to tell you that I do not live in Paris anymore, but in a small city.

@topffer I was at a wedding in a small City in France (not my wedding), but I can't remember what it was called. I remember that the townspeople were friendly and played a lot of petanque. We took the train, and the city was to the South, but not that far South.

Beautiful picture, I wish we had trees like that here.
Brown is the natural color here until we get a wee bit of moisture then there is a dappling of green and dark olive. Since we got rain early this month it's been dappling nicely but the only way that'll continue is if we keep getting cloudy days ..... I love clouds.

When I first came to Greece I got alarmed because it rarely rained and I had lived most of my life in a country where it rained too much. I wondered how the plants, bushes and trees survived. Now I know there is underground water so things are not quite so dried out deep down. All the same, if we want a garden with flowers then we have to get out the hosepipe every day during the summer.

@TheHorse In the Philippines yes, but fortunately not in the province i live in. I think we were the only province that didn't experience drought at all.

@toniganzon Interesting. I know the Philippines is a bunch of islands, but I don't know the lay of the land (and water) very well.

Perhaps some sharing of your glorious cool weather would be refreshing for those of us experiencing a hot dry summer?

@41CombedaleRoad How do the farmers there feel about the lack of rain? Is irrigation in place?

That looks pretty dry. Wildfire danger dry. That is the way it looks down here in SoCal.

The trees and plants are still green, but the flowers are not blooming as in early spring.

We have not gone more than a week without some kind of moisture hitting the ground here since last fall, pony. I don't normally take pictures outside unless it is of plants in my yard, but you are in luck. Since I was at my friend's house last weekend, I took several pictures with my phone out across her property. (I also got several nice shots of the moon with Mars ascending, but that is totally different.)
I will show you a picture of the field behind Leah's house.

@TheHorse Thank you, pony! I thought it looked good, too.
Yes, it sure does look very big by the moon and to the upper right from it... My phone has a decent camera on it but not good enough to do more than show Mars as a blurred circle, even with multiple magnifications from my pc. I will post a pic of Mars magnified out of proportion, if you wanna see it, though.
This picture was taken in Pomona, Missouri.

Everything is brown, brown, brown here in SoCal. Of course, I heard on the news that Mr. Trump does not believe we are having a drought and he will "fix" our water problems, if elected. Why do I not believe him?

Like always, he is full of superficial information from one source. I think he gets it from the reporters from the National Enquirer or TMZ.

It's green here and quite lush for our paddocks. When we first came here 12 years ago there was a lot of grass but I think as the roos get fenced out of other areas around here, they have found a haven on our paddocks and keep the grass in control. If and when we agist a horse or two, they always need supplementary feeding.

I'm on the 13th floor of my apartment building. I've been here 2 months now and I was just commenting yesterday on how green everything looks from up here all of a sudden! The trees have all sprouted leaves and the grass is turning green. It's so beautiful! There are times I just can't tear myself away from the view!

We have some spots that are really brown still and some our green since we are getting rain now. I hate when i drive somewhere and see where it's brown it's not a good look.

The grass is beginning to dryout, depending on the soil. But the land will never be brown because it is host to lots of pines and olive trees and they stay green all the year round.

@TheHorse They are beautiful when they are young but as they get old they tend to look more bedraggled - a bit like myself I suppose...

Because of all the heavy rains here in Texas @TheHorse , I don't think there's a drought area left. My grass is so green, I've had to have it mowed 3 times.

Our hills are brown, like yours. But most of them have been cleared, so it's like the hills have been given a haircut after it was bleached blonde.

@TheHorse(20013) Going from the sort of tropical San Diego to the high desert made me think I would miss the spring. Luckily there has been rain on and off. The above is a picture of my garden in the Mojave Desert. I always heard they did test runs on cars out here since the weather and conditions were so brutal. What a treat to have green vegetables and these wild flowers that volunteered to show up in my garden.
